  • SuperContest 2020-Week 5 (standings Tuesday, lines Wednesday, consensus/leaders' picks Sunday)

We've been doing these weekly SuperContest threads since ViewFromVegas.com debuted in 2007 and we were the only site posting the SuperContest spreads online as the then-Las Vegas Hilton was reluctant to post them on its own website. There are still a ton of readers who still come here every week to get the updated standings on Tuesdays, the official contest lines on #SuperContest, the consensus and leaders' picks on Saturdays and the results after the games are played...and then return for the next week's thread.

The SuperContest drew just 1,172 entries for the 2020 season, down from the record 3,328 entries last year, at $1,500 apiece. The reasons were many, starting with the pandemic that kept a lot of people from coming to visit Las Vegas to enter and also from the increased competition of the second-year Circa Sports Million. But it's still the SuperContest and will have a first-place prize of $360,000 plus the championship ring. The SuperContest Gold, the $5,000 winner-take-all version, closed with 72 entries, down from 117, and will have a $360,000 first-place prize.

#SuperContest Top 5 Most-Selected Teams went 2-4 in Week 4 (the explanation for that is that the Cowboys -4.5 & Rams -12.5 were tied for the No. 2 and both lost, so I'm including it in overall record as I've done in the past) and drop to 9-12 on the season. #SuperContestGold Top 5 went 2-3 and dips to 11-9.

ODBMG2 went 18-2 to win $100,000 1st Quarter (#NFL Weeks 1-4) in #SuperContest @SuperBookNV (bringing ODBMG's total to $150,000 in #vegas contests as ODBMG also finished tied for 2nd in the Circa Sports Million's 1st Quarter to win another $50,000); Tom Lippard (16-3-1) won $25,000 2nd-place prize; Swami Sez & Goosbumps (16 points each) tied for 3rd for $5,000 apiece.

Here's the leaderboard with Top 20 plus ties after Week 4 and heading into Week 5, which also starts the 2nd Quarter:

Here are the Week 5 lines for SuperContest and SuperContest Gold...but for first time, the Westgate (or previous owners such as the Hilton and LVH) did not post lines for every scheduled #NFL game due to #DENvsNE and #BUFvsTEN being off the board at release time & possibility that the games could be postponed...not the best precedent as most players at least want to the option to decide what to do with every game on the board...the danger of picking a game and having it postponed (and according to SuperContest rules getting zero points for that game) is a risk some players are willing to take (such as those who took the Chiefs -6.5 last weekend)...I guess everything is different in 2020:
