  • 2019 football season sees addition of Circa Sports Million

This is still in the process of getting finalized with rules, full details, etc., but Circa Sports (which will debut on June 1 at Derek Stevens' Golden Gate Casino in downtown Las Vegas and then add a second book in late June at the D after renovations as Stevens goes from using William Hill to run the sports books at his casinos to running his own book) will have a football contest this fall called the Circa Sports Million.

This is according to VP Mike Palm on his Wednesday appearance on VSiN...other details he shared:

$1,000 entry fee...no word yet on number of entries allowed.

Pick 5 NFL sides a week against the spread...sounds like will be similar to SuperContest in that regard.

Guaranteed 1st prize of $1 million...expected to be $1.5 million purse and will not only have season-long prizes but quarterly prizes (sounds like best record in September, October, November, December)...so should be a significant overlay.

All selections can be made on mobile app (must sign up at brick-and-mortar casino).

Tentative plan to release weekly lines by 9 a.m. Thursdays...no word on when picks are due (though assume by kickoff of TNF if using that game).

We'll update this thread when more details are released.

Does this mean that after sign-up at casino, one could make picks from anywhere in the U.S. outside of Las Vegas?!

Can the SuperContest do the same?

NOOOOOOOOO...mobile apps picks, whether it's actual wagers or for contest picks, must still be from within Nevada borders (for both Circa and Westgate contests). Hopefully this gets change in not-too-distant future, but for now still restricted within each state (and will be the case if any other states announce contests for this fall).

Welp, so much for the overlay we were all looking so forward to. Is going over 1,500, for sure. They only need 50 per day from here on out. I could see it hitting 2k before all is said and done. With the overlay out the window, only paying out top ten and excess prize money ALL going into the already overweighted, gimmicky, quarterly prizes, this new offering is looking less attractive by the minute Rake free!! And shot at a cool million, remain the selling points.

I don't see why you're assuming it's "going over 1,500 for sure"...based on what? I think you underestimate how difficult it is to get 50 people per day to go to downtown Vegas LMEAO! And 2,000? No shot (especially if it did hit 1,500 and eliminate the overlay incentive as you said, there would be no late rush to push it even higher).

All I know is, everyone had overlay as basically a lock and it simply is not happening. I sure wish I could have got down some over/under action. I seen projections, very early on, as low as 500 entrants. The pace does seem to have slowed down a wee bit. I'd guess closer to 1,600 at this point. We shall see.

They did too good of a job of marketing it and getting the word out (Golden Nugget, with the same $1,000 entry points, has been struggling for years to get to 300 entries and Circa blew them out of the water -- Golden Nugget is still only going to end up around 300 while Circa is about to go past 1,300 mark).

Yep, they sure did. The national t.v. spot certainly helped. People love their NFL. That helps, too. Rake free, at two thirds the price of the competition, certainly did not hurt, either. 76 more signed up today. We match that over final four days and we are looking at 1,750. Scale back a bit, to 50 a day and still 1,650. That would put roughly 25% of the entire pot going towards the side pots. Way too much, imo. What will it even take to win the first 3 quarter bonuses? Will 18-2 get it done? Or are we going to have to go 19-1? Good luck, lol. Will obviously be chop pots, no matter. Would much prefer the additional money went to the actual season long winners of the contest. It is a shame nobody outside of William Hill offers a college football only season long contest.

LMEAO...laughed when I saw that...should have probably removed the "overlay" part a while ago I still haven't entered yet and know at least 10 more entries coming in next few days...

Thanks, ComptrBob!!! Welcome back for another season...forgot to post this last night:

                            Dave Tuley @ViewFromVegas
BAL (-6.5) was also No. 1 choice in #CircaSportsMillion; Top 5 Most-Selected teams finished Week 1 at 2-2-1 with other winner on KC (-3), the No. 3 choice @CircaSports; losses were on No. 4 DET (-2.5) & No. 5 TB (pick 'em); push on No. 2 IND (+6 instead of +6.5)

By "also," I meant that the Ravens were also the No. 1 choice in the SuperContest.

We'll do a separate thread for Circa Millions starting in Week 2.
