  • SuperContest Week 6 thread (standings Tue., lines Wed., consensus/leaders picks Sat.)

For the 13th straight year, we'll be hosting a weekly SuperContest thread here in the VFV Forums where we'll post the updated standings each Tuesday, post the weekly lines each Wednesday, post the consensus & leaders' plays on Saturdays and then grade through the weekend. The 2019 SuperContest closed with a record 3,328 entries ($1,500 apiece), an increase of 205 (or 6.6%) more than last year’s 3,123. The SuperContest champion will win $1,469,644.80 (32% of prize pool of 3,328 entries, $1,500 apiece, minus 8% administrative fee) plus a championship ring. SuperContestGold ($5,000 winner-take-all version) closed with 117, a decrease of 11 (or 8.6%) from last year’s record of 128. The SuperContestGold champion will win $585,000 (winner-take-all, 100% of prize pool of 117 entries, $5,000 apiece) plus a championship ring like longtime VFV Forum member Squarepants (as There Can Be Only 1).

Here's the consensus results from last week: SuperContest Top 5 Most-Selected teams went 3-2 in Week 5 and are 13-12 overall; SuperContestGold Top Picks (no longer "Top 5" as there was a four-way tie for pick No. 4 in Week 4, so it was actually a Top 7 and now we call these the Gold Top Picks) went 2-2-1 and are 15-12-1 overall.

TUCO and ER @ JAR (who were the #SuperContest co-leaders at 19-1 -- believed to be a record -- after #NFL Week 4) both went 4-1 in Week 5 to stay tied at 23-2 (92%); TUCO was 4-1 Sunday and ER @ JAR matched him with SF -3.5 on #MNF @SuperBookUSA @VSiNLive

This is where we put the current week's lines for the SuperContest and SuperContest Gold...for the unintiated, the numbers to the left of the teams are the order in which the teams are listed on the contest kiosks (and now on the mobile app) with favorites being the odd numbers and underdogs the even...these were more important when contestants and proxies needed to fill out parlay-like cards using the numbers for each team, but now they just click the number/team on the kiosk or app...home teams are marked with an asterisk and the spread is listed after the underdog:

    THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2019
    1 PATRIOTS* 5:20 PM 2 GIANTS +17
    SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2019

      #SuperContest Top 5 Most-Selected Teams (13-12 overall) for #NFL Week 6 are LAR -3 vs. SF, JAX -1.5 vs. NO, SEA -1 at CLE, MIN -3 vs. PHI & DAL -7 at Jets; #SuperContestGold Top Plays (15-12-1 due to 4-way tie for #4 in W4) are JAX -1.5, LAR -3, CLE +1, TEN +2 & MIN -3 @VSiNLive

ER @ JAR and Tuco tied for lead at 23-2 (92%)...in Week 6, ER @ JAR has TB +2.5 vs. CAR, CLE +1 vs. SEA, JAX -1.5 vs. NO, PHI +3 at MIN & LAR -3 vs. SF; Tuco has CLE +1 vs. SEA, HOU +4.5 at KC, SF +3 at LAR, NYJ +7 vs. DAL & PIT +6.5 at LAC; so, both have CLE but opposite on SF-LAR

So who are #SuperContest leaders ER @ JAR & Tuco??? My story on them is at https://www.vsin.com/contest-corner-...ntest-leaders/ @VSiNLive and describes how they're pushing each other as they both set records by going 19-1 through #NFL Week 4 @SuperBookUSA & 23-2 (92%) through Week 5 (includes Week 6 plays)

[email protected] goes 0-5 to give up the lead.

One snippet of info from Dave's article is that neither leader after Week 4 was the long absent Squarepants under an assumed name.

Tuco is #SuperContest leader after #NFL Week 6 at 27-3 (90%) after going 4-1; The Knack & The Killshot Two tied for 2nd at 23-6-1; former leader ER @ JAR in five-way tie for 4th at 23-7 despite going 0-5 @SuperBookUSA; my story on Tuco & ER @ JAR vsin.com/contest-corner… @VSiNLive

#SuperContest Top 5 went 2-3 in Week 6 (15-15 on season) w/ wins by SEA -1 & MIN -3 but LAR -3 lost as No. 1 choice, JAX -1.5 as No. 2 choice & DAL -7 as No. 5; #SuperContestGold Top Plays went 1-4 (16-16-1 on season) w/ losses by JAX, LAR, CLE & TEN and only win by MIN @VSiNLive

For comparison purposes, after 6 weeks (SC is historically (2011-2018) 49.51% for the first 6 weeks):

Overall ATS W/L/P records (Circa lines released later and generally not as stale as SC):

            SC Gold: 1776-1634-70, 52.08%
            SC: 49134-48455-1926, 50.35%
            Circa: 27599-27373-783, 50.21%
