NY GIANTS over *CHICAGO by 7

Oh, boy. Well, the Giants beat the Bears last season, when the Chi-
cago defense was playing as well as it is now. Scored 27 points in

regulation against the Bears, in fact. Full disclosure, the first 7 points
came on a Pick Six against Chase Daniel, who started at quarterback
for Chicago in place of Mitch Trubisky. The next three points came
off a turnover. The next seven came on a flea-flicker. A trick play!
Later, three more points came off a turnover. When you mention the

word “turnover,” you think of the Giants and rookie quarterback Dan-
iel Jones, right? He’s been making them right and left. But it was the

Giants who got the turnovers against Daniel last season. Daniel might
start this game, and if he doesn’t, then Mitch Trubisky will. Does it
matter who plays quarterback for the Chicago offense? It’s not good!
Meanwhile, the Bears’ defense intercepted 27 passes in 2018; in 10
games this season, it has only 7 Well, there you go. That’s why the
Bears aren’t on pace for 12-4! The offense hasn’t been given 1.75
extra possessions per game in which to run clock or score off an easy
set-up! You could say that Jones’ arrival in the Windy City can spark
the winds of change back the Bears’ way for turnovers, but it cannot
be denied that the Giants’ offense at least moves the ball better with

him quarterbacking than it did with Eli Manning, while the Bears’ of-
fense is really struggling. NY GIANTS, 24-17.

*New York Jets over Oakland by 17
Sam Darnold isn’t seeing ghosts anymore. He’s envisioning a possible playoff berth
for the Jets. Now that is spooky. But winning a third straight game for the first time
in two years isn’t for the Jets. It’s very achievable because the spot and opponent set
up for them here. Yes, Jon Gruden has improved Oakland to semi-respectability. No
doubt there. But the Raiders defense remains well below average, particularly against
the pass, ranking 27th in pass defense and missing injured key cogs Lamarcus Joyner
and Karl Joseph. The Raiders’ secondary has become so depleted management
brought in highly flammable D.J. Swearinger off the street. Darnold and his decent
cast of receivers, including Le’Veon Bell out of the backfield, can take advantage.
The Raiders’ strength is running the ball with rookie Josh Jacobs. Run defense is the
Jets’ major strength. New York is holding opponents to 79.1 yards on the ground
and 3.0 yards per carry. Both are the best marks in the NFL. Just two weeks ago, the
Jets held Saquon Barkley to one yard on 13 carries, by far his worst performance
ever. This marks Oakland’s first road game in four weeks. It comes with an early
start time for the West Coast Raiders and a projected forecast of upper 30 degree
weather with possible showers. It’s a flat spot, too, for the Raiders since they play the
Chiefs the following week in an AFC West Division showdown. The Raiders have

won exactly two road games in the Jon Gruden era, going 4-8 ATS in away match-
ups with a minus 6.6 ATS margin. Oakland isn’t powerful enough to cover margins

either, with five of its nine victories during the Gruden era coming by three points
          or less. NY JETS 31-14.

          *Tennessee over Jacksonville by 20

Yes, it is extremely alarming to witness the Jaguars follow up their 26-3 London de-
bacle to the Texans by losing to the Colts, 33-13, on the road this past Sunday. Those

two division losses place Jacksonville at the bottom of the AFC South Division,
the only team in the conference with a losing record. It calls into question Doug
Marrone’s job security. The Jaguars are much more like the 5-11 team of a year ago
than the division champions of two seasons ago. The Colts gutted the Jaguars for
266 rushing yards on 36 carries, averaging 7.3 yards per carry. Not one but two Indy
running backs rushed for more than 100 yards. Derrick Henry is better than Marlon
Mack and Jonathan Williams put together and he does his best running during the
second half of the season. The Jaguars are far from the dominant defensive club
of two years ago, missing a number of key defenders including traded cornerback
Jalen Ramsey. The Jaguars have their own version of Henry in Leonard Fournette.
Marrone just sometimes forgets to use use him. Instead the Jaguars try to throw the
ball way too much lacking a true starting quarterback with a choice of Nick Foles,
a perennial backup, or rookie Gardner Minshew, who was chewed up and exposed
in London. The Titans aren’t a fancy team. They are just a no-frills solid club with a
defense that has given up 20 points or fewer in seven of their 10 games. Tennessee
was idle last week. So the Titans should come in rested and prepared. They have
dominated the Jaguars at home, winning the past five times there while going 4-1
ATS. Throw in revenge for a 20-7 Week 3 loss to the Jaguars and the Titans should
          be fired-up. TENNESSEE 30-10.
