  • 2019 NFL P.O.W. Week #15 (December 12 - 16) Post Plays Here

This is the thread for the 2019 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year (the same as in the past):

    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums
    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded
    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded
    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week: http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/
    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above site...no buying 1/2 point)
    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed
    8. The following Books will NOT be allowed: VI Consensus, BetOnline, PepperMill, Atlantis Reno
    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)
    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.
    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)
    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO
    14. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO)...you can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention
    15. For the first time, this year, Week 17 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.
    16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 17)...important note: your points will be the number of Units you start with in the playoff portion of the contest that runs through the Super Bowl and will be run by DaveTuley with locked-in spreads and totals, though Tuley often will give extra options if the market has variances such as Patriots -6.5 but also Steelers +7 being available); still debating maximum units allowed for playoff round (currently 5-unit max bet each playoff weekend).
    17. ViewFromVegas shirt to top point-earner in regular season; $100 gift card & VFV shirt to overall playoff champion (we've had VFV Forum members offer up additional prizes in the past including cash and steak knives, so please contact DaveTuley if you have anything to add).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

******ONLY ENTRIES WITH AT LEAST 6 POINTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO CONTINUE IN THIS YEARS CONTEST******

      NFL POW (11-3-0)

      Kansas City -11 Treasure Island

Denver defense not as capable as New England defense in any way. Kansas City beat New England by a touchdown today, scoring 23 points against that defense. Denver QB seems capable last two games, but one win was 23-20 against San Diego. Todays win was against Houston, who they beat by two touchdowns. Denver also lost to Buffalo three weeks ago 20-3. Baltimore beat Buffalo today 23-16, and Kansas City beat Baltimore 33-28. Mahomes the better quarterback, Reid the better coach, records against other teams indicate Kansas City is much superior team. Kansas City 4-0 versus their division. Kansas City was held to 23 points by New England today, but they can score twice that versus Denver. Kansas City 45-23. Good luck all!

        KC -11 Westgate Superbook

KC has averaged 2 defensive interceptions for the past 3 games. They are 5th in the league for the year in this category. To cover spreads successfully and often, it helps IMHO, select from the top 5 most successful teams on the season, from the top 5 quarterbacks, and from team in top 5 turnover margin. KC is #6 in turnover margin on season, and #2 in turnover margin the past three games. Only SEA has more takeaways the past 3 games than KC. KC is 4th on the season in scoring margin, 5th in league in scoring margin in the past 3 games. More of the same. KC 35-21. GLTA!

Oops. Pulled the trigger so quickly I hadn't heard about Mahomes hand injury. Of course Matt Moore is not even a fraction of the quarterback that Mahomes is. But, with Moore at quarterback in first game in DEN, KC prevailed 30-6. Reid knows how to game plan for Moore, and Moore is experienced and knows his role among the KC talent. But if I had seen the game, or heard on news feed that Mahomes was injured I would have waited for line to drop.

        NFL POW 9-5-0

        Chiefs -11 Treasure Is., Westgate

Chiefs 4-0 SU and ATS versus their division this year, averaging 20 points per game margin of victory. Chiefs won and covered the first game against Broncos by 24 points in Denver. New Bronco quarterback might make it closer on the rematch, so maybe hot Chiefs only win by 12 at home to go to 5-0 versus their division. Chiefs 36-24. Good luck to everyone else.

          N.F.L. P.O.W. (ytd record 10-4)

          KC -11 Westgate Superbook
Looked hardest at five teams: Bal -14, KC -11, Pit -1, SF -10.5, and Sea -6.5. Dropped Pit, because I think Buf will win that game outright. Sea should win, but don't like that number for Car. I like SF, but they did give up 46 points today, and Atl can score too! Left with two choices, think the scoring margin of the two games will be similar, so giving up 3.5 points less is value. Good luck!

            POW YTD (10-4-0)

LA Lambs +3 @ Dallas William Hill 9:05pm PST

Rams are playing with a sense of urgency last 2 weeks, while cowboys don't really know what they are doing at this point of the season. Don't expect this line is going to be available very long,so let's jump in early for week 15. Rams defense sure looked god tonight against seattle, steamrolling their offensive line most of the evening. Quick strikes from Goff, Gurley getting his sea legs back, and all their receivers back healthy makes them a dangerous out going forward. Cowboys look to have quit on their coach, why should next week be any different? Their season comes down to the week 16 game against the eagles, while rams have to win out to have any chance to get in the tournament. Expect another big effort from los angeles, another no show from dallas. 34-13 Rams when the dust settles.

              NFL POW 7-7

              Rams +3

Two teams going in opposite directions. Yes Dallas still has a shot at the division with a losing record. I think the Rams found their way again and will flex its muscles over Dallas this weekend. Dallas, losers of 3 straight, make it 4 straight and I will take 3 points for the better team.

                KC -10 (Circa Sports)

I think we had a quick reacting to Mahommes hand. I believe the xrays were negative. Mahommy is a competitor and will play at home when they host rival Denver. The broncos are about to get a dose of reality and come back to earth after last weeks game. KC is playing for playoff positioning. I think Reid will have the team ready and firing on all cylinders. KC wins by 2 TDs.

                  POW YTD 9-5

                  Rams +3 William Hill

Same reason as above, Rams D is Back and Offense is healthy again Cant see how Dallas can win this game when the only thing that counts for them is next week at Philly, Maybe they want to win this week for their confidence, BUT they cant beat a good team this year and Rams are a GOOD team right now. Take this before line drops.....

To whom it may concern :

My record is 10-4 not 9-4. PLEASE correct his error.

                    NFL POW 10-4

                    Atlanta + 11 ( Westgate)

A likely flat spot psychologically for the 49'ers. Atlanta has been in virtually in every game since last October. 49ers 0-2-1 as a double digit chalk overall and have covered only 3 of last 6 this year. S.F. may be

looking forward to the Rams the following week.

                      NFL POW 6-8 [6 pts.]

                      Over 45.5 Saints vs Colts

Still on life support but still alive, so gonna try another OVER. Saints Offense has been on quite a run the last three weeks while their Defense has definitely sprung a leak, whereas the Colts seem totally lost the last few weeks and in order to stay in this game they will need to try and trade points with the home team. Monday night in the dome I see the Saints putting up 30+ points themselves and the Colts could easily get in the high teens or lower 20's with some garbage points late. this one gets near 50.

                      Gl to all

                          NY Jets +15 (Stations)

I'll step in front of the freight train that is the Ravens right now. Jets rushing defense is #1 in the league in terms of YPC. While the Ravens rushing offense is no ordinary rushing attack, the stats would indicate that the Jets may be able to slow them down better than some other teams.

It's a Thursday night game so this is also a short week. Lamar Jackson will play but is nursing an injury. Perhaps he runs less than normal which weakens their overall attack. Bottom line, I think the Ravens are happy to grind out a win and move on, getting more than 2 TDs with a team that has been playing better lately looks appealing to me.
