  • 2019 NFL P.O.W. Week #16 (December 19 - 23) Post Plays Here

Starting this weeks thread a bit early as I will be out of the house this evening...

This is the thread for the 2019 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year (the same as in the past):

    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums
    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded
    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded
    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week:
    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above buying 1/2 point)
    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed
    8. The following Books will NOT be allowed: VI Consensus, BetOnline, PepperMill, Atlantis Reno
    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)
    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.
    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)
    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO
    14. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO) can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention
    15. For the first time, this year, Week 17 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.
    16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 17)...important note: your points will be the number of Units you start with in the playoff portion of the contest that runs through the Super Bowl and will be run by DaveTuley with locked-in spreads and totals, though Tuley often will give extra options if the market has variances such as Patriots -6.5 but also Steelers +7 being available); still debating maximum units allowed for playoff round (currently 5-unit max bet each playoff weekend).
    17. ViewFromVegas shirt to top point-earner in regular season; $100 gift card & VFV shirt to overall playoff champion (we've had VFV Forum members offer up additional prizes in the past including cash and steak knives, so please contact DaveTuley if you have anything to add).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

        NFL POW 11-4-0

        KC -4 Westgate Superbook

Think this line increases as week progresses. KC has double digit win here. Playing for playoff seeding at this point. Better turnover margin, better quarterback, better offense. Plus KC game has additional meaning and incentive besides pride. GLTA!

          NFL P.O.W. (12-3-0)

          Kansas City -4 (Westgate)

Kansas City handled the spread for me last week at -11 versus Denver, with 9 points to spare. Think this is excellent number, and since no line yet on Baltimore game I'm going to jump on this one. KC wins 24-7. Good luck everyone!

            Chiefs -4...Westgate Superbook

Chiefs +7 T/O margin, top 10 NFL. Chiefs top 5 in defensive ints, top 10 in defensive takeaways, top 10 in fewest giveaways. Weather will be cold in Chicago Sunday night, but nothing more hazardous noted at this point. Not much in way of travel distance. Chiefs with top 5 QB, and team is rolling towards playoffs. Chiefs 27-10. Good luck to all.

              N.F.L. P.O.W. (11-4-0 ytd)

              bal -8 (Westgate Superbook)

Have been waiting for line on Baltimore, nothing currently available, but it's a divisional game for them and they are 1-3 ats versus their division this year, while Cleveland is 3-1 ats versus their division this year. Cleveland has covered the last three games versus Baltimore. Last year, Cleveland won SU by 3, and lost SU by 2, covering both. This year Cleveland won first matchup in Baltimore SU by 15 points, also covering. Weather is expected to be clear, windy - 11 to 27 mph - and daytime wind chills in low 20s. Sounds like game to avoid, even though Baltimore on a roll. Chiefs also on a roll, average scoring margin past three games nearly 5 points per game better than Ravens, and 10 points per game better than their opponent, the Bears. It will be cold in Chicago too, and almost always windy. But [email protected] expected to be half the line of [email protected] Also cle has better QBR rating than chi, which is in bottom 5 of the league. kc -4 is my best play, and was play I was making, and if bal -8? was available it would be my second best play. Chiefs 24-7...but just had to take my second best play as line on kc game Bal 34-17. Best of luck to everyone else!

                Bills +6.5 (Caesers)

The only playoff bound team New England has even beaten are the Cowboys and they didn't cover this number in that game. This line is based entirely on the Patriots of the past. The Patriots need defensive scores or blocked punts to get out of the teens and I think this Bills team will be conservative knowing all they need to do is not beat themselves. This line should be -4 at best. It's hard to bet against the Pats at home, but a great case could be made to take the Bills moneyline. Luckily, I can get 6.5 points and still root for the Patriots to win.

                  NFL POW 7-8

                  Bill +6.5

Bills still have a shot at the division. NE lost its last home game to end its home winning steak. NE offense will continue to struggle vs a good Bills Def. NE may squeak this win out but I will take the 6.5 points and run with it.

                    NFL 9-5

                    HOU -1.5 CG

Deshaun Watson is back! The Texans are starting to figure out their defensive woes. TB is a team just playing for their contracts which makes them dangerous but I like the Texans playing for the playoffs. I think Hou wins by 7 in this one. TB will grab a garbage time score to make it look closer then it is.

                      K.C. under 45.5 Westgate

K.C.'s improving defense keying 4 straight that way, and Bears under run stretching back to mid 2018 (16-5) last 21.

                        Cowboys -2 1/2 MGM mirage
Two hapless teams playing for a divisional championship in which a seemingly .500 record could conceivably win the division. Eagles have looked terrible as of late, while the Boyz broke out of a long slump against the Rams last week. Winner of the NFC east is going no where in the playoffs but I’ll take the best of the worst here and piss Mr. Pixter off.

                              NFL POW (7-7-1)

Houston - Tampa Bay Over 49.5 (William Hill)

Both teams have hot QBs and defenses ranked in the bottom of the league. This is a game Houston needs, but may be a no show again (See Denver). Tampa Bay has nothing to lose and they are trending well
under Arians and Winston. It should be a shootout going down to the last few seconds. Of course, with my luck this year in this contest, it will be a 6-3 slugfest.
