This is the thread for the 2018 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year (the same as in the past):

    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV
    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded
    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded
    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week: http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/
    6. All lines must be -120 or less (must be posted on above site...no buying 1/2 point)
    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed
    8. The following Books will NOT be allowed: VI Consensus, BetOnline, PepperMill, Atlantis Reno
    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)
    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.
    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2018 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)
    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO
    14. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 17)...important note: your points will be the number of Units you start with in the playoff portion of the contest that runs through the Super Bowl)
    15. Prizes to be determined by DaveTuley....we've had fellow posters offer up prizes in the past, so please let me know if anyone has anything to offer or ideas for yours truly (yes, this is an edit by DaveTuley I'd like to have a prize for the person earning the most points during the regular season...and then the overall champ after the Super Bowl (and perhaps a runner-up prize).
    16. NO EDITING!!!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

      2-1 after 3 weeks
      MIAMI +7 ..... Westgate
Miami is 3-0, winning by 7, 8, and 8 points. NE is 1-2, beating a winless Houston Texans and losing to Jacksonville which was able to score only 6 points yesterday and to the 1-2 Detroit Lions. QB Brady is starting to show his age going 14/26 for only 133 yards versus Detroit for about a paltry 5.1 yards per pass attempt. The Patriots have no decent wide receivers, unless Gordon can show his form of 5 years ago. This looks like the year that NE finally does not make the playoffs. Get on the resurgent Miami Dolphins.

Go back to my POW last week and I said there is a lot of energy in Miami for the Dolphins.Sorry I did not use them instead of Minnesota in survivor pool.
Do not know yet who my POW will be but will bet Dolphins plus the points Sunday.

          2018 NFL P.O.W. (3-0-0)
Tampa Bay / Chicago UNDER 48......Westgate
This total is just too high, it strikes me as more of a 23 - 17 kind of affair. The weather is finally cooling off and I like Chicago's improved defense. Fitz won't be making any magic in the Windy City, Chicago chews up clock but lacks big play capability.

            2018 NFL P.O.W. (2-1 (2-points))

            LA RAMS -6-1/2

Rams probably have one of the best teams in the NFL and the Vikings, besides crushing the hopes and dreams of 60% of survivor entries, they stunk up the house against Buffalo. It's a short week, hard to make adjustments with travel, I am going with the better team, at home, on the short week.

Didn't post where the line was from, but it is everywhere, so let's just go with MGM this week.

              Oakland -2 Westgate
Oakland is best 0-3 team in a long time.Lose to SB team Rams,at Denver life and death to lose by a point.Played my Dolphins who I touted two weeks ago and many like this Sunday against NE to the end and lost on 2 trick plays.OK,now they come home to a crazy home crowd and let’s see if Browns are for real.Tough place for a rookieQB.
Maybe both teams make playoffs? This line goes to 3 and if it does double down.
If you follow $ this year dogs going down near post time are winning.GL

                N.F.L. P.O.W. (1-2-0)

                Giants + 3.5 (Stations)

Saints have a porous secondary just right for two time Super Bowl champ QB Eli Manning to exploit.

Calling it Giants 35 Saints 28

                    2018 NFL P.O.W. 1-2-0

                    INDY -1 (Willy Hilly)

I've like INDY since watching them make a comeback and have a shot at beating CINN on a last drive in game 1...Beat WASH on the road, and played the Super Bowl champs tough. Luck has the rust off, and HOU finds new ways to lose. INDY at home knowing they can still be a playoff team in their minds, will win a close one over HOU.

                      NFL POW 1-1

LAC v SF Under 47 Will Hill

49ers will struggle to score without Garoppolo. Beathard last year posted a bunch of 10 point games and I expect the same here. 28 -10 Bolts roll.

                        NFL POW [1-2]

                        Oakland -2.5 [William Hill]

It was time for Cleveland to get a W last week. Now it's time for Oakland to do the same. They have been winning at halftime of each game so far this year. QB Mayfield will have a much harder time this week on the road than he did in front of his home crowd. I see Carr being more careful with the ball and Lynch running hard trying to get the win that they really need for Coach Gruden.
Oakland makes less mistake in this one and wins by 7.

                        GL to all

                          POW 2-1

                          Eagles 3.5 Mgm Mirage

Going with the champs here, as I look for Wentz and the offense to get rolling. The D has been outstanding especially in the red zone. Mariotta still not fully healthy and look for tough Eagle D to exploit that. Looking for a 27-10 type of game.

Taking Rams here at MGM - 7
If Minn allowed Buff to score 27pts on them and only answer with 7pts I have no problem giving up 7 in LA a team that is 3 and 0 and the best team in the league this year.Only problem I have is I have seen so many times before a team after a brutal beating comes back the next week looking like they are going to go to the Superbowl.
