  • We Are Getting Closer Here In Ohio!!!

The sports gaming bill passed the full House today and now heads to the Senate. Both the Senate and Governor are in favor of gaming, but they both want the States Gaming Control Board to run this. The bill passed by the House today has the Lottery Commission in charge. Either way, we are in the right track to have this completed by Fall..... hopefully for some football.... hopefully..

I live 10 minutes from Penn National and all of the racinos are basically empty, Penn National is on its 3rd bookmaker already in less than a year. The books have found out these places are not really profitable. In this modern day if you don't have internet gaming you are in the dust. I don't even know of 1 bookmaker that still answers phones. But good for you and Ohio.

As an Ohio resident myself, glad to see the ball is rolling on this. However, I will predict it gets bogged down and probably won't ultimately be approved until 2021. Ohio is always reactionary to this stuff, neighboring states like Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia all had casino gaming before Ohio did and now the same thing with sports wagering.

I read months ago that one of the issues with legalization in Ohio is determining who the governing body will be (Ohio Lottery Commission vs. Casino Control Commission). Looks like that's still an issue and that's the political agenda part that will bog it down. Personally, I think having the Lottery Commission regulating it is stupid. One of the questions if it's regulated by the Lottery Commission is who can act as a licensed sportsbook. Can any lottery retailer also book sports bets? There are literally thousands of lottery retailers throughout Ohio, this would seem to be a logistical nightmare from a regulatory standpoint.

That’s a good question. Be cool to go to the gas station and bet a game. Lol

Just reading of the horrible juice that DC is placing on their bets and has me scared. As their sports is also being run by the Lottery. So yes, I am too hoping that the Senate and DeWine get their way and this is run by the Gaming Board. The one bright spot, is that both the House and Senate bills both include mobile wagering.

Agree with you regarding mobile betting, I would love to have that. I will gladly spend one weekend sometime to drive around the state to fund multiple mobile accounts if it will give me multiple options to get the best number.

Glad to see another state moving forward, CT and MA still nothing. I wouldn't be a big fan of the lottery commission though. They run things in Rhode Island and hired Wm Hill to run things, not the worse choice but the only thing the commission decided that didn't need the full menu from WM Hill, so what Wm Hill in NV and NJ has RI only has like 60% of their menu. Ridiculous,

Oh the hairs are getting very gray on several tv execs around the country as they try and figure out how in the hell to air all these sports later this Summer/Fall, lol....

When I used to go to Delaware to bet (run by the state lottery) they always seemed to give fair odds. Now I just stay in Penna. and bet. The local Mohegan Sun
Pocono is run by Unibet and they do a good job.

I am just glad that the state decided not to let the Lottery run it. This are the fine folks who give you 500-1 odds on a 999-1 wager. (3 digit number)
Hell, back in the day the mob used to give us 600-1!!

stevei, as long as you live in PA you can set up a mobile account with any or all of them. If you shop around you can find a good one. Draftkings is now with
Hollywood and have a pretty liberal rewards and bonus policy.

No luck getting it thru with all the covid stuff going on. Trudeau will give an “economic update” July 8. Not a real budget. Who knows...

Return to some normalcy. Our Mohegan Sun Pocono opens Monday. With some restrictions of course.

You heard what the details are for social distancing Gary? Table games limited, etc? Got a letter in the mail today saying Hollywood is back open. Doesn’t specify other than more sanitizer and more cleaning.

Son was over last week before they opened. He had a meeting on Thursday and said all players at tables have to have masks. BJ tables are limited to 3 players. Not sure about craps, etc. No poker tables. No restaurants or bars open yet. Only open 7am-3am SUN-TH and then 24 hrs on FRI and SAT. He wasn't happy about going back to wok, lol.....supposed to have dinner with him on Sunday, will get a better feel and let you know.
