  • 2020 NFL P.O.W. Week #2 (September 17-21 ) Post Plays Here

This is the thread for the 2020 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year (the same as in the past):

    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums
    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded
    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded
    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week:
    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above buying 1/2 point)
    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed
    8. The following Books will NOT be allowed: VI Consensus, BetOnline, PepperMill, Atlantis Reno
    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)
    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.
    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)
    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO
    14. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO) can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention
    15. For the first time, this year, Week 17 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.
    16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 17)...important note: your points will be the number of Units you start with in the playoff portion of the contest that runs through the Super Bowl and will be run by DaveTuley with locked-in spreads and totals, though Tuley often will give extra options if the market has variances such as Patriots -6.5 but also Steelers +7 being available); still debating maximum units allowed for playoff round (currently 5-unit max bet each playoff weekend).
    17. Since we are not doing the SuperContest Mirror Contest like past years and this is the OFFICIAL handicapping ViewFromVegas handicapping contest for the 2020 NFL season, DaveTuley is upgrading the grand prize to 2 nights hotel in Las Vegas (sorry, you have to get yourself here) and dinner for 2 with DaveTuley along with $100 gift card and a ViewFromVegas shirt (season must end with a Super Bowl champion for this to be awarded)...he's also giving a $100 gift card and a VFV shirt to the top point-earner in the regular season (minimum 10 weeks)...we've had VFV Forum members offer up additional prizes in the past including cash and steak knives, so please contact DaveTuley if you have anything to add).
    18. ****Thanks to Compass Rose for starting discussion on this one****18. Any selection made, and then for whatever reason, the game is officially postponed or canceled, a substitute P.O.W. may be posted at the then available lines. If no substitute play is made, the original play will be graded as 0 points.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

      2020 NFL P.O.W. (1-0-0)

      Bal -5.5 (Wynn LV)

Won a lot of picks last year off of three teams, and Bal was one of them, one of the best. To start this season, the Ravens are #2 ranked in FPI and #3 ranked in DVOA. By comparison, Texans are #23 ranked FPI and #23 ranked DVOA. Bal has 13-1 streak SU, and went 10-7 ATS in 2019, 9-2 ATS last 11 games. Hou is 5-11-1 ATS since last season, and 3-6-0 ATS at home since last year. Bal started week 1 off in good fashion, and rolls on in week 2. Bal 5-1 ATS since last season as a road favorite, averaging 25 points per game more than their opponents.

        49ers -6.5 ... Westgate
The most talented team in the NFC West is in last place behind Arizona, the Rams and Seattle after losing at home in week 1. The 49ers go to New Jersey to play a very weak team in the Jets who were uncompetitive versus the Bills. I foresee a determined San Francisco team blowing out its AFC opponent.

The line can only rise, closing at -7, -7.5 or even at -8 points.

        NFL P.O.W. (1-0-0)

        KC -6.5 Wynn Las Vegas

Chiefs retained most of their roster in the offseason, and picked up a promising running back in first round of the draft, so Mahomes didn't need to be a team leading rusher in week 1. Chiefs get 10 days to rest up before their next game. Chargers are just 1-5-1 ATS as home team since last year, second worst in NFL. Chiefs consistently one of the top teams ATS in past two years with Mahomes under center. Good luck to all!

When was this line at 6.5? Looking at the line history on, this line hasn't been below 7 since May. It's consensus 8.5 pretty much everywhere, I don't see how this was 6.5 as of this morning. Just curious, not trying to throw shade.

        Bal -5.5 (Wynn Las Vegas)

Net QBR favors the Ravens by 97.3 points. Texan's NetQBR last year was +10.4. Their NetQBR in week 1 was -36.6. Ravens NetQBR last year was +30.9, after week 1 Raven's NetQBR was +60.7. Chiefs and Ravens both looking at scoring a lot of points in week 2 as they did in 2019 and in week 1, but Raven's D better, and I get a 1 point better line at -5.5.

          NFL P.O.W. 2020 (1-0-0, YTD)

          Chiefs -6.5 (Wynn LV)

Chargers a bad home team past two years, averaging net -5.1 points against all visiting opponents. During same period Chiefs averaged net +12.4 points against all opponents on the road. KC 9-1 SU/7-3 ATS versus LAC last 10 games, averaging a net +11 point differential. KC current streak is 10-0 ATS going back to last year. KC 6-0 ATS versus division last year, LAC 0-6 ATS versus division last year.

            Bengals +6 (Circa Sports)

I will take the divisional road dog in the empty Dawg Pound. The Bengals have to feel like they let one get away, and will be glad to immediately focus on this game in a short week. What was that giant turd that Cleveland laid up in Baltimore? Geez and I thought the problem was Freddie Kitchens, right????? Looked like same old turd brown Browns to me. Bengals win by 1, Cincinnati Skyline chili smothers the Cleveland pierogi in a not so tasty meeting of these two perennial cellar dwellers.

how in the hell did i get or deserve the back door cover here? my god the bengals defense is so bad me and Tuley could probably get a few first downs. Anyway I will take it first one to 2-0!

            NFL POW 1-0

            Cleveland -5.5 (Stations)

I certainly realize the Browns laid an egg yesterday and it probably seems odd to lay points with a team that looked as bad as they did. However, teams that really get blown out in week 1 generally rebound and play much better in week 2. The Bengals offensive line is junk and Cleveland's defensive line will dominate the trenches. I don't trust the Bengals coaching staff to put together an effective game plan on a short week. Bengals suffered a close, agonizing loss in week 1 last year and got steamrolled in week 2. I can certainly see the same thing happening here.

According to the time stamp of Strmchsr1's post and the movement of the line listed on VI, then yes, this line is good. Below is a list of all the time stamp movements on the VI page for the Wynn Book that he is using.

                    2020 NFL P.O.W. (1-0-0 YTD)

Green Bay Packers -5.5 (Treasure Island)

Taking a home divisional favorite off a tough road win in week 1, who won SU as a dog. DET was a short home favorite that, well, pulled a "Lions" on that final play. Maybe I'm just still angry that Swift dropping that pass also cost me a fantasy win, but that's a different subject, lol. GB looked great last week in MIN. This was the one game that really affected the home team by NOT having fans in the stands. While GB is also a "tough venue", for most teams, DET has actually had some nice success there of late. Going 3-2 SU and 4-1 ATS in the L5 played at Lambeau. But Rodgers looked great in Week 1 and I think NOT having fans will actually make things easier for A-Rod..gimme the home team laying less than a TD.

                    Detroit Lions 13
                    Green Bay Packers 27

Best of luck in week 2 and stay safe everyone.

                      2020 NFL POW (0-1-0 YTD)

                      Baltimore -7 (Westgate)

I think Baltimore is the best NFL team I have seen since the 2007 Patriots. Last year they got caught off guard, but before that game against the Titans I would have taken them at -7 in a heartbeat against a Texans team that struggles to stop the ball or protect their quarterback. Laying points on doesn't bother me considering every game is close to a neutral field. The texans having extra time to prepare is a non-issue for me since their game plans never make sense and they seem to just rely on Watson being insanely talented.
