  • 2020 NFL P.O.W. Week #11 (November 19-23 ) Post Plays Here

This is the thread for the 2020 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year (the same as in the past):

    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums
    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded
    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded
    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week: http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/
    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above site...no buying 1/2 point)
    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed
    8. PLEASE SEE NOTE BELOW FOR ELIGIBLE BOOKS!
    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)
    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.
    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)
    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO
    14. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO)...you can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention
    15. For the first time, this year, Week 17 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.
    16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 17)...important note: your points will be the number of Units you start with in the playoff portion of the contest that runs through the Super Bowl and will be run by DaveTuley with locked-in spreads and totals, though Tuley often will give extra options if the market has variances such as Patriots -6.5 but also Steelers +7 being available); still debating maximum units allowed for playoff round (currently 5-unit max bet each playoff weekend).
    17. Since we are not doing the SuperContest Mirror Contest like past years and this is the OFFICIAL handicapping ViewFromVegas handicapping contest for the 2020 NFL season, DaveTuley is upgrading the grand prize to 2 nights hotel in Las Vegas (sorry, you have to get yourself here) and dinner for 2 with DaveTuley along with $100 gift card and a ViewFromVegas shirt (season must end with a Super Bowl champion for this to be awarded)...he's also giving a $100 gift card and a VFV shirt to the top point-earner in the regular season (minimum 10 weeks)...we've had VFV Forum members offer up additional prizes in the past including cash and steak knives, so please contact DaveTuley if you have anything to add).
    18. ****Thanks to Compass Rose for starting discussion on this one****18. Any selection made, and then for whatever reason, the game is officially postponed or canceled, a substitute P.O.W. may be posted at the then available lines. If no substitute play is made, the original play will be graded as 0 points.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

******GOING FORWARD, HERE ARE THE ONLY BOOKS ELIGIBLE TO USE FOR THIS CONTEST. ANY PLAYS POSTED NOT USING ONE OF THESE BOOKS WILL BE GRADED AS A LOSS. THIS WILL SERVE AS YOUR ONLY REMINDER FOR THIS NEW RULE!!!********

8-1 pending the Vikings -2.5 on Monday night

    Washington pick-em ..... Westgate

I will ride with the home team versus Cincinnati. I prefer Washington's defense, Cincinnati's is just a sieve. Washington is still in the hunt for the weak NFC East Division. Cincinnati will not make the playoffs. Alex Smith had a decent game at the quarterback position today.

OK, I am the first to make the playoffs, and I think that I was also first last year, too. Last year I was in first place when the playoffs started but lost a game in the playoffs.

      PHILLY/CLEVE OVER 45 1/2 - BILL HILL

Both teams seem to wake up in non conf matchups, so.......( I just went from typing in the under as past weather forced unders in Cleve, as will be mild in Cleve so I flipped the call ).

        NFL POW 7-3 [7 pts]

        Miami -3 [Bet MGM]

Defense travels and Miami can play Defense. Tua has been very very average, but that's all he has needed to be to date. Miami has gone to San Francisco and Arizona and won so traveling across country hasn't phased them. Lock is hurt and may or may not play for Denver. If he does I can see Miami forcing him into a couple of turnovers to help out Tua. If he doesn't play QB Rypien will have all kinds of trouble with the ballhawking D that Miami has shown. I don't see a blowout but I do see at least a 7 point cover for the road team here.

          NFL P.O.W. (5-5-0)

          Seattle -3 William Hills

The Seahawks defense has been a sore spot for the team all season, but Russell Wilson and the offense were always there to bail them out. That hasn’t been the case the past two games, with Wilson running out of fourth-quarter magic. However, Wilson is back home after two road stops, and boasts a league-best 126.2 passer rating inside CenturyLink Field, compared to just 98.3 on the road.

            NFL P.O.W. (7-3-0)

            Miami -3 (William Hill)

Making an early pick, but two teams going in different directions. Miami looks like it has a future star at QB, Denver looks like a team still trying to find one. Playing in Denver
makes it a little concerning, but Miami looks to have the offense and defense to control Denver. Miami appears to be peaking at the right time and Tua is learning well on the fly.
The biggest mismatch appears to be in coaching. Flores really appears to have this team running on all cylinders. Go Fins!

BALTIMORE THREE-EYED RAVENS -6 (Treasure Island)

The bastards lost to NE in a hurricane and knocked one of my survivor entries out with it! I still believe in their defense and I don't believe in TENN's D. A dry football will do BALT wonders. TENN lost badly to CINN, beat an average CHI team and got boat-raced by INDY. They come off the bye, but that doesn't mean they'll muster enough offence to beat the BALT D.

Oh yeah, forgot, that little loss to TENN in last year's playoff will be on BALT's mind...Revenge is a dish best served. Along with some chocolate cake too! ;-)

                POW 5-5

                Seattle-3 (William Hill)

I layed -3.5 at Arizona a few weeks ago in a game I feel should have cashed, so I will lay 3 here at home. Seattle is a different team at home and Arizona is off 2 tough, back and forth games, on a short week, traveling to a tough division rival. Seattle gets it done here.

                  POW ( 5-4-1)

                  Philadelphia + 3 (Westgate Superbook)

Cleveland not rewarding its backers lately as confirmed by four straight losses ATS. Baker Mayfield hasn't thrown a TD pass the past two games. Wentz is getting back Jalen

Reagor and Alshon Jeffery to active duty. Philadelphia is a Gold Sheet key release. Tuley the Tout likes them and you know how sharp he is !!!

NFL POW [Not sure of my record but its not good, 3.5 points total maybe?)

                    Over Cinn/Wash 46.5 (Nuggett)

Two bad teams equals points. Alex Smith looking better, and Cinn D is porous. Burrow should be able to move the ball on these guys, seems like a 27 to 24 kind of game, weather looks perfect for fall football - light winds and cool but not cold and no rain. Sling it boys!

                      2020 NFL P.O.W. (5-4-1)

                      Miami Dolphins -3.5 (Circa Sports)

Drew Lock might be out this week, but regardless the Dolphins D is becoming one of the best in the league and their O is improving with Tua at the helm. The Broncos are outclassed and outcoached in this one and the Dolphins win by double digits on the road.

                        NFL POW (4-6-0)

                        Seahawks -3 (Bill Hill)

Usually hate betting on the team that "must win", since it often doesn't. But will go with the Homer pick on my hawks and Mr. Wilson's 8-1 record on Thursday Night Football. Wouldn't expect big letdown from Cards with an (effective) 2 game division lead at stake, but on the Scale of Emotional Letdown Candidate list, the old "won on a Hail Mary" has to be pretty high, right? Over the last 3 years, Seattle is 6-1 off a Divisional loss & 5-0 if the loss was by 7 or less. MUCH to correct for Seattle on both sides of the ball and a short week to do it, but in Pete I trust to eek out a W and get this train back on the tracks.
