  • 2020 NFL P.O.W. Week #12 (November 26-30) Post Plays Here

This is the thread for the 2020 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year (the same as in the past):

    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums
    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded
    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded
    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week:
    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above buying 1/2 point)
    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed
    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)
    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.
    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)
    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO
    14. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO) can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention
    15. For the first time, this year, Week 17 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.
    16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 17)...important note: your points will be the number of Units you start with in the playoff portion of the contest that runs through the Super Bowl and will be run by DaveTuley with locked-in spreads and totals, though Tuley often will give extra options if the market has variances such as Patriots -6.5 but also Steelers +7 being available); still debating maximum units allowed for playoff round (currently 5-unit max bet each playoff weekend).
    17. Since we are not doing the SuperContest Mirror Contest like past years and this is the OFFICIAL handicapping ViewFromVegas handicapping contest for the 2020 NFL season, DaveTuley is upgrading the grand prize to 2 nights hotel in Las Vegas (sorry, you have to get yourself here) and dinner for 2 with DaveTuley along with $100 gift card and a ViewFromVegas shirt (season must end with a Super Bowl champion for this to be awarded)...he's also giving a $100 gift card and a VFV shirt to the top point-earner in the regular season (minimum 10 weeks)...we've had VFV Forum members offer up additional prizes in the past including cash and steak knives, so please contact DaveTuley if you have anything to add).
    18. ****Thanks to Compass Rose for starting discussion on this one****18. Any selection made, and then for whatever reason, the game is officially postponed or canceled, a substitute P.O.W. may be posted at the then available lines. If no substitute play is made, the original play will be graded as 0 points.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

      Dallas -2.5 ..... William Hill

I am taking a traditional home Thanksgiving Day team giving 2.5 points to Washington. Dallas' win over the Vikings was much more impressive than Washington's win over Cincinnati, which lost QB Burrow during the game. Dallas was a 7.5 point dog while Washington was a 1.5 point favorite. Dallas was on the road while Washington was at home. I think that Dallas should win by 7 to 10 points.

Kudos on your season so far. I like this pick and so do the early bettors as the line has moved from the -1 opener. The Cowboys look like a dangerous team. The O line is healthier and the 2 backs are running hard. Good thing they signed the Red Rifle. He's starting to look comfortable in McCarthy's system. I can see them taking the NFC L(East).

I second DaveyS kudos.Very sharp picking and you always are betting before the line moves.Dallas looks like they should win their division.Happy Thanksgiving to all and keep cashing.

      NFL POW 7-4 [7 pts]

      Dallas -2.5 William Hill

My reason should be because TARB said so....he's been that good this year....congrats to you TARB....keep it up.

If Dallas is ever going to put together two good games this is the spot. At home, short week, new found confidence, veteran QB who may be settling in with the Offense all vs a team that had trouble scoring against a poor Bengals team yesterday. The health of the O-Line is key for Dallas and they are as healthy as they've been all year. This should come out to at least a 7 point victory on Turkey Day.

      GL to all

Off a good win vs ARI holding Kyler, the only guy shorter than Russell Wilson to 15-rushing yards. The D with the addition of Dunlap on the D line is letting others get pressure on the QB's. They get two other starters back too. Chris Carson, their #1 RB is back too along with Hyde that showed vs ARI what a running game does to help the SEA O not have to have RUSS cook so much. He just microwaved vs ARI and that was enough to get the win. PHILLY its trying but Wentz is not getting it done. They won't keep up with the SEA offense if they get the running game going once again. They have the makings of a Super Bowl team, and SB team should go into PHILLY and win by 10+

          Seattle -5.5 (will hill)

Eagles are hot garbage right now and Russ always plays well in prime time. Plus since 1996 West coast teams that travel East for MNF are 12-0 ATS and 10-2 SU. GLA

            Dallas -3 (William Hill)

I have always hated the Cowboys, from their beginnings to now. I always enjoyed watching them lose, which wasn't often enough. I was always an AFL fan and my team was the Houston Oilers. We all know how that went. Sometimes, these contests make strange bedfellows. I informed my wife that for the first time in 44 years of our marriage, I will be rooting for Dallas on Thanksgiving. After she picked herself up off the floor, she figured this was probably a new symptom of Covid and wanted to seek medical, or in this case, mental help.
Getting real, I liked what I saw from the Cowboys on Sunday. They have a lot of talent, they are getting healthier, and they are starting to get their new system down. Dallas is a team to watch considering their division. Dalton is a an experienced QB, they have a great running back, superior recievers, and got back a couple of linebackers. Washington is a good team and beat Dallas the first time. Dallas will have the revenge factor, 25,000 home fans, and a weak schedule going forward. Dallas could easily make the playoffs. Dare I speak those words!

Updated standings are now posted up top. Congrats to TARB for being our first ticket puncher to the playoffs. What an incredible run this guy is on! Keep it up TARB!! One the other side of things, there are a bunch of us hanging on at the bottom with a shit ton of work to do.

Happy Turkey Day to all this week, however you are celebrating it. Stay safe everyone!

                pos....i mean pow 5-5-1

Should have stayed with my original under call for the game especially had i known it would be pissing rain for the entire game.
                Anyhow new week.

Worried that Balti-Pitt can get cxld ( unlikely as a Thanksgiving special ) so won't waste a play here.

                NYG-Cinci - Under 43 1/2 - Circa

Let them run till their knees buckle. Going with a FG battle game.

This league lacks top notch QB's.

                  NFL POW (3-8 YTD)

                  Dal -2.5 (Southpoint)

Dalton looked more comfortable in McCarthy's system last week. Divisional revenge game, and in recent years this matchup has gone the way of the Cowboys. Don''t see any NFC east team sweeping the division this year. Was going to take Dal -3, half point line drop to -2.5 a bonus. Good luck to all and Happy Thanksgiving to all as well!

                    NFL P.O.W. (6-5-0)

                    Dallas -2.5 (South Point)

Dallas is 7-3 SU/6-4 ATS head to head last 10 games, and 2-1 SU/ATS against Washington. Average score in both last 10 ten head to head games and last 3 head to head games favors Dallas by +6 points per game. That said, Washington beat Dallas 25-3 a month ago. But Dallas beat Washington 31-21 last year in Washington, and Dallas won again 47-16 in Dallas last season. On the road this year, Washington 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS, while 2 of Dallas 3 wins this year have been at home. Good luck, Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Mia/NYJ Over 44.5 MGM and Everywhere

I really should just tail TARB with Dallas as he is on a season long heater - congrats on an amazing run!! But I will take my chances with an over in this dreadful game. Flacco shockingly looked ept last week in putting up 28 points on the Chargers so the Jets may contribute some points to this total. I also feel we are buying low on the Tua experience as he crapped the bed in spectacular fashion in Denver. Plus the Miami D didn’t look as solid against a bad Denver O - hoping that continues again this week. GLTA.

                        NFL P.O.W. 2020 (5-6-0, YTD)

                        DALLAS -2.5 (SOUTH POINT)

Last week Washington's Smith had a passing QBR rating of just 34.7 against the #31st ranked defense of the Bengals, whose passing defense is ranked #28. Dallas' Dalton had a weekly 5th best in the league passing QBR rating of 81.6 against the 10th ranked defense of the Vikings, while Dallas also notched 180 yards rushing on the Vikings. Over the season Dallas has played the 14th ranked strength of schedule, while Washington has played the 31st ranked strength of schedule. Over the last three weeks, Dallas has ranked the #3 offensive rushing team averaging 152.3 yards per game, and the #10 rushing defense, allowing an average of 96.7 yards per game for net rushing of +55.6 yards per game. In the past three weeks Washington has ranked as the #18 rushing offense averaging 96.7 yards per game, and the #19 rushing defense, allowing 113.7 yards per game, for -17 net rushing yards per game. Passing or rushing, Dallas should win this time around as they are more talented and rounding into late season shape. GLTA!

                          2020 NFL P.O.W. (4-7-0 YTD)

                          Pittsburgh Steelers -5 (BetMGM)

Going to let my POW playoff life ride on a team I absolutely can't stand....if that makes any sense. BAL is in a horrible spot coming into this game. They are down to their 3rd string RB in Gus Edwards. Lamar Jackson is looking very, very "normal" of late. Making horrible decisions with the football. PIT is at home and leads the league in takeaways. I'm just hoping and praying that this game is played as scheduled and not called off. Good thing is that if it is, I will still have a full slate on Sunday to choose from. But I really like Tomlin at home in this spot. Big Ben always seems to shine bright when the spotlight is on, and this is the prime spot for him to showcase his comeback season.

                          Baltimore Ravens 13
                          Pittsburgh Steelers 27

Best of luck to all, Happy Thanksgiving to all, and most importantly, please everyone be safe. We are almost at the end of this thing, there is a big bright light, and it is getting closer.

                            8-3 2020 POW NFL

                            STEELERS -4

                            (WESTGATE) OVER BALTY---

Seems like a popular pick and I am going to jump on it now as the line dropped back down overnight as I saw a 5.5 last night. Most are back at 4 now. As noted by other, Lamar Jackson has regressed and the Pitts D is not a good fit to get back on track. I was hoping the Raves would be back as I have a super bowl ticket on them but I do not think they have it this year. Steelers keep the perfect season alive and win by 7.

Also, Steelers are +450 to win SB at this point and think they are capable of beating the Chiefs and whoever they play in the SB. I doubt they will get much higher than this epecially if they win big Thursday and KV loses another one vs. TB

If you want to, you may make a new selection with this game in doubt of being played. Or you can take the chance and let this ride. Up to you.
