  • 2021 NFL P.O.W. Week 1 (Sept 9-13) Post Plays Here

This is the thread for the 2021 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year:
    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums

    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season

    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded

    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded

    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week: http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/

    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above site...no buying 1/2 point)

    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed

    8. PLEASE SEE NOTE BELOW FOR ELIGIBLE BOOKS!

    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)

    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.

    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)

    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO

    14. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO)...you can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention

    15. Week 18 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.

    16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 18).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

I had some comments regarding starting this thread later each week after lines had "settled". I think the entire point of this contest from jump, has been the ability to "shop" for the best number. We have all been burned or helped by grabbing what some would call a "stale" number. That is all a part of gambling. These suggestions also came in AFTER I had asked for any ideas for this year and after the survey was created. I have this noted for next year and I will put it up to vote. After all, this is a contest for all of us. It is supposed to be fun and maybe make your eyes move to a game you maybe hadn't thought about.

Best of luck to all this year, and hey, we get an extra week of football and don't forget, even though it's many months away, but we (well some of us anyways, lol), FINALLY get the day after the Super Bowl off work for a holiday, haha!!

        Cleveland +6 ..... everywhere

I think that there are three teams capable of representing the AFC in the Super Bowl, the Chiefs, the Bills and the Browns. The Browns are a loaded team with outstanding defense and a balanced offense. The Browns have a great running attack and can absolutely move the ball through the air. I think that KC should be favored in this home game by 3.5 to 4.5 points. I am on the dog in this game.

        Broncos -1.5 (BetMGM)

I am a die hard Broncos fan. I will admit that right at the start. Hate betting on my team since I just want to be happy if they won SU and not care about ATS. I know Broncos could win SU but not ATS here but I'll take my chances. Broncos played everyone during NFLX. The NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS (Not to be confused with the: New York Baseball Giants) did not and I fully expect the rust to show. We have no idea if the Barkley we see for The NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS will be more like Saquon. Or Charles. "Danny Dimes" might throw some pretty "Dimes" - to Broncos defenders. Fangio is on a very hot seat and if he "messes" this one up that seat will be hotter than the Vegas sidewalks in August. IF the Broncos are gonna have any chance to make the playoffs losing here is not gonna help. Besides the NGC East is CRAP! Pure CRAP! Fading them in non-divisional games when an SU loss almost certainly means an ATS loss is something we will get very rich doing this season - just like last one, too.

Interesting statistic about betting against NFLEast.Looked it up and last year it went 17-23.Denver has a easy start in schedule this year and is one of my go to teams out of the gate.

        Giants +2 1/2 Westgate
Fading the consensus and picking a Giants team that should improve off of last seasons 6-10 season. NY always plays tough in the Meadowlands and Denver won’t like the plane ride back east.

Houston plus 3 mgm Find it odd that the worst team in the league a year ago is now favorite on the road with a Rookie qb. Tyrod Taylor should start, he's not that bad.

Broncos win by 2 would make us both happy

No more need for this as I made it a "sticky" LMEAO. I'll do my best to keep on top of this each week, usually removing the sticky from the current week's thread and adding the next week's thread late Sunday or Monday morning at the latest (so, those posting late for the MNF game will have to find the thread lower down the page).

                Pittsburgh +7 (William Hill)

Fitting that I am taking my team the first week. I think 7 points is too many. The Bills are dealing with a lot of COVID drama (fines for McKenzie and Beasley), and they have a lot of unvaxed players on the team still. Who would have thought that I would ever make a pick partially based on COVID? That being said, I think the Steelers defense will be a top 5 defense in the league by the end of the year. Not saying they will be lights out against a powerful Bills offense, but I think they do enough to keep the final score under a TD. Ben looked sharp in his one preseason game and the addition of Harris in the backfield will bring some balance to Pittsburgh's offense letting them keep this game closer than the 7 point spread.

                  Miami +3 Southpoint
NE may actually be a better team since BB sent Scam packing. However, Miami has been very competitive in this series over the past 3 years. I’ll take the points and hope for the best.

Las Vegas Raiders +4 1/2 (Westgate)

I don't think that the Raiders are a better team than the Ravens, but the first game with fans at the Death Star on Monday night is too much of an intangible. I'll take Las Vegas and the newfound home field advantage.

                        Tennessee Titans -3 Circa Sports

Murray on Arizona doesn't take care of the ball very well. For his career TD's 46 Int 24 not
to mention the fumbles. Titans are a steady team with a good QB a fantastic RB and a good HC.
I think the line is too low and they'll win by at least a td
                        Good luck
