It is imperative for Iowa State to beat Iowa this week to maintain it's position.
Notre Dame must beat Florida State today.

Didn't expect to see Iowa St and Cincinnati on that list. Where are perennial powers LSU, Florida, Florida St, USC, Washington, UCLA etc.?

LSU and Washington have already lost a game. UCLA needs a few more wins without losing to get on the list. Florida State will probably win about 6 games and Florida will struggle to win 8 games. USC can get on the list by winning a few more games without losing.

I watched the entire PSU-Whisky game. Penn St. is not a top 10 based on their performance. Poor decisions and Red Zone TOs
by Wisc. And the Badgers still had a chance to win in the final minute but screwed up again.

I would suggest UCLA as a top 10 based on performances over Hawaii and LSU.

But as you stated . Way too early.

          1) Alabama
          2) Georgia
          3) Oklahoma
          4) Texas A&M reluctantly placed here
          5) Clemson
          6) Ohio State
          7) Notre Dame
          8) Penn State
          9) Oregon
          10) Cincinnati
          11) Iowa
          12) UCLA

Clemson and Ohio State are better than Texas A&M, but they both will struggle to make the playoffs with a loss already on their records.

Might have to slide UCF into that top 12 after this week.😁

                  5) Texas A&M
                  6) Cincinnati
                  7) Notre Dame
                  8) Penn State
                  9) Ohio State

                  11) Iowa
                  12) Florida

I put Cincinnati ahead of Notre Dame because my current power ratings would have Cincinnati favored over Notre Dame when they play at Cincinnati in two weeks.

                    3) Oregon
                    4) Oklahoma
                    5) Penn State
                    6) Iowa
                    7) Notre Dame
                    8) Cincinnati
                    9) Arkansas
                    10) Ohio State
                    11) Florida
                    12) Missisippi

Arkansas and Mississippi will disappear next week when they lose to Georgia and Alabama respectively. The loser of the Cincinnati at Notre Dame game will drop next week. Now that Clemson has two losses, it has only a miniscule chance of making the playoffs.

                      4) Penn State

                      9) BYU
                      10) Michigan

It is not surprising that seven of the top ten are from the SEC and the B1G.

                        7) Kentucky ... will drop out at Georgia this week

The B1G and SEC champs will get in. That could very well be Ohio State and Alabama. If Georgia goes unbeaten until the SEC championship, then Georgia gets in. If Oklahoma goes unbeaten, then the Sooners get in. That leaves Cincinnati and a 1-loss Iowa out of the final four. The championship series should expand to eight, not twelve, teams.

                          8) Michigan State

Cincinnati deserves to be #2 right now, but lack of schedule strength could work against the Bearcats when the final four is announced. I think that Cincinnati must go undefeated with a loss by Oklahoma, Alabama or Ohio State for Cincinnati to actually attain the playoffs.

I think Georgia will stub it's toe along the way...as will Oklahoma with the final 3 games on their schedule. To me, Cincinnati may end the season ranked #1 in both the AP and Coaches, and still be scrambling to make the playoffs....unreal. I don't see a loss on their schedule the rest of the way, I really don't...but that can't be held against them, they can only play who is on the schedule. And if they continue to dominate teams the way they have so far, I really don't see how the committee leaves them out.

Georgia - gotta think they make the CFP - even if they lose the SEC champ game
Bama - if they run the table and win the SEC they make the CFP
Oklahoma/Oklahoma State - if either runs the table they make the CFP. Figure they will play each other 2x so a split kills them both
Big Ten - gotta think that winner gets a CFP spot

Cincy has to run the table to have ANY shot at the CFP. They will also need 1 loss by each Oklahoma school OR Bama to lose the SEC Champ Game OR have lots of Big 10 schools "eat each other" and knock each other out

I think if Cincy wins out they will get IN because enough of the above scenarios will play out. The CFP board CANNOT leave out Cincy is Bama loses to UGA OR the Oklahoma schools beat each other. Cincy would get the #4 spot...............and unlike the last bowl game they played a few months ago - UGA will SQUASH Cincy. But Cincy will have EARNED the spot,

A second loss by Ohio State would also help Cincinnati. Any 1-loss B1G team champion will make the playoffs.
