Hey guys, just a little clean-up here on the site about this contest. In years past, if you wanted to see the line history from a certain book on a game, you would just click on the current number and it would open up. Now, if you do that, it takes you to a sign-up page for that books app, lol. I figured out how to find the history though: If you click on the VI Opener, it will take you to the history page for all the listed books. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM or post the question on here. Thanks!

Barnstorm....I appreciate the effort you have made in keeping an eye on everyone's lines and plays. It helps me know which plays I need to take a second look at. We have always used this contest as if you were in Vegas, and a Le to "shop" for lines if you will. Only you have to make sure you lock in at the good number. Sometimes that's a good number, sometimes it comes back to bite you in the ass...
We have always started this thread early on Sunday afternoon as that was when the Hilton/Westgate, used to be the first in Vegas to post the next week's lines. Kind of an ode to them if you will. If you listen to VSIN at all, you will know that several of the bigger bettors in the world, fly in each week to make their plays early on Sunday, when they have the best advantage over the books. And isn't that what we are all striving to do? Get the best of the books? It's either they make money or we make money...and I would most certainly hope you would want it to be us squares that are at the advantage.
So if a guy wants to grab what may appear to be a "stale" line, let him do it. All lines that we use in this contest were or are readily available for anyone to place a legal wager on in Vegas. That was and still is the main point of this contest. Being able to grab a line when it opens/drops/whatever and posting your play on it.
I would venture to say that over the years, the couple of players that each week post early plays with what some may call "stale" numbers, have had those numbers come back to bite them in the ass one way or another. Everyone has their own way of gambling...some like to make all their wagers early when the lines first open, others like to wait until right before kickoff. Myself, I have tried it both ways and suck at both, lol. -
But these are not just good or stale numbers they are grabbing. These are the result of a glitch in the Vegas Insider feed. Yes, the sharps have moved the line on Sunday night and most books follow suit But there seems to always be a glitch in the odds feed to VegasInsider for one or more books. That number is not longer available at the Book or Casino, but still shows on VegasInsider. And you can see the move the line has made due to the sharps and you can see the lagging odds feed. I've confirmed this with VegasInsider's tech guy and with Jay Kornegay on one occasion. So guys are not taking advantage of a good number. They are taking advantage of a technical glitch. They are not only grabbing a good number, they are seeing which game the sharps have moved on Sunday night. Not very sporting. Whatever, It's not like it's a million dollars, but just waiting until after MNF to post the thread solves it and levels the playing field.Last edited by barnstorm; 10-14-2021, 07:44 PM.

Public dogs always make me nervous, and I've already missed the best number on this, but I think the coaching change for the Chargers has been enormous. The Ravens have had an advantage over the past few years relying on analytics to make more informed 4th down calls and it appears the Chargers are now on the same page. I was worried about the Chargers coming off an emotional win but the Ravens topped them with their MNF comeback. I'll be taking the Chargers on the moneyline as well.

Posting my play earlier than usual this week as the spread is already going higher in many books. Bills #1 in points for and points against this season going against a Titans team that hasn't impressed me this year. Titans beat up on the Jags last week which is not impressive as every team does that and they lost to the pathetic Jets the week before. Only good opponent they played this year was the Cardinals in Tennessee, and they got destroyed 38-13. I think Bills cover this spread fairly easy and win by double digits.

i had the Viks as a 2.5/3 point favorite & with other books at -1 I can see it inching towards my line, after playing above there level against bad teams the Panthers will come back to earth. Sam Darnold and the poor offensive line are going to be under pressure all day long. I’m hoping the Viks jump out in front & a chasing Sam Darnold will give away the ball.

Really love the pick by GC above but as I was thinking about my write up I decided to go a different way. Boston has that annoying BUZZ in their neck of the woods this Autumn with almost beating their beloved TB12 and now their Red Sox suprising everyone, I like the Patriots to focus and be the better prepared and coached team and they get Dak outdoors at Foxboro and a rowdy crowd. I think Dallas is gonna come out soft in this one and have trouble. Look for the Pats to take advantage.Comment

Pittsburgh -4 1/2 Russell Wilson is out and I don't think the Seahawks are as good offensively with Geno Smith at the helm. Seattle is also brutal against the run and I look for Najee Harris to have a huge game.Comment

I would stay away from this game if Russ Russ was playing, but hes not playing. Steelers prime-time record is pretty stellar under Tomlin.Seattle's rush defense is second worst in the league (Chargers being the worst). Harris had his first 100 yard rushing game last week and it may be evidence that the offensive line is finding some rhythm. Steelers defense is getting healthy. Geno Smith's has more INT's (37) than he does TD's (30). in the NFL. I am sticking with the home team and a defense that will eat Geno up in prime-time.Comment

dollars I can see the reasoning. Speaking of reasoning: Bills 30+ streak end and defense stops Tenn.
If the thread police think that is not enough reasons, please let me know and I will return with a vengence.
