2021 NFL P.O.W. Contest Week 8 (Oct 28 - Nov 1) Post Plays Here

This is the thread for the 2021 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year:
1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums

2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season

3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded

4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded

5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week: http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/

6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above site...no buying 1/2 point)

7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed

8. PLEASE SEE NOTE BELOW FOR ELIGIBLE BOOKS!

9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)

10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.

11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)

13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO

15. Week 18 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.

16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 18).

2021 NFL P.O.W. (2-4-1 YTD)

Seattle Seahawks -3.5 (Caesars)

I know this is risky taking a team that has yet to play this week, and against a team coming off their first win and a bye...but still, we're talking about the Jaguars and Urban Grinder. SEA with a healthy Russell Wilson and at home, would be normally, my guess anyways, at least a 10+ pt favorite. I think Geno Smith could very well be considered the best backup in the league right now. SEA still has a ton of talent on offense, it's the defense that has been suspect. But even a half-ass SEA defense is enough to beat this JAX team. JAX is off the bye, but I really don't see that mattering much, as this trip up NorthWest is gonna feel like that flight to London. My main reason is Pete Carroll being able to get his team back on a short rest, against an Urban Grinder team that really doesn't care for their coach. Seattle defends the home turf with an easy win.

NFL POW 4-3 (4 in Odd numbered weeks, 0-3 in Even numbered weeks......so I will consider this to be : Week 7B)

Debating on 2 plays here: Falcons -2.5 and San Diego Chargers -5........am going with:

Falcons -2.5 (WA but I'll mark Caesars just to CYA)

So this line basically says on a neutral field these 2 teams are even. Really? OK. I don't see it that way. I think the Falcons are at least 3 points better on a neutral field and about a TD better at home. I will gladly lay -2.5 before it goes to -3 on Monday

BUFFALON BILLYS -13 (WESTGATE SUUUUUUUUUUPERBOOK)

Yes, a huge number, but MIA hasn't seen this kind of storm coming their way as a pissed of BUFF team off the TENN game they had won about 4-different ways will want to get the crap sandwich taste out of their mouth and take it out on their division little brothers who could only hold their own vs a very average ATL team. BUFF isn't average at all and wins by 17 with a defense that might shut MIA out.

Tennessee +2.5 (Caesars)

Tennessee's offense is clicking, one of the best RB's in the league and plenty of receiving options. Tennesee wins this game straight up.

I'm having a hard time believing that with all the games in Week 8 that this is where I landed. Bears looked absolutely horrible yesterday vs Tampa Bay. Just having difficulty believing that San Fran is the favored team here on the road. Although it was in a rainstorm the 9'ers looked pretty bad last night also. With both QB situations looking shaky I'll take the home team vs the west coast team playing early here. The Bears Defense will put the team in good enough situations to cover this #. Getting the 1/2 point may make the difference with a possible straight up win.

Green Bay +3.5 (Circa)

Green Bay is on a wrath right now and I still don't believe Arizona is a 7-0 team. They're good, but we will see if they can stop Aaron Rodgers and co. Probably the over would be the better play here, but this is where the dart stuck this week. GLA

Lol, of course I make a play early in the week for once and the line jumps like that. There is still a chance that the players get off the covid list come thursday, but it will probably be unlikely. Like volo says, they still have Rodgers slinging it so they definitely have a chance.

Indianapolis Colts +1.5 (Circa)

Wrong team favored here. Colts need the win to stay alive in AFC South division race since the Titans won the first matchup in Week 3. After the 0-3 start, Colts have played well. Colts offensive line is back intact, I believe they have success running the ball here. Taking a division home underdog always has appeal, Colts win outright.

Lotta love (and respect) for the Titans after back to back impressive wins over Bills and Chiefs. How did they lose to the Jets? Well it was against a home underdog. Still, I am not a Wentz believer. He will feel some pressure from TEN, unlike the last two games. Definitely a must win game for IND after they blew that game to Baltimore. GL!

Tampa Bay -5

Tampa has struggled on the road this year going 2-1 and their two wins weren't comfortably. Nola on the other has two losses to two struggling teams (Giants and Panthers) which makes them that less impressive to me. Brady and the Bucs will be focused because this game would give the Bucs a two game lead in the division, whereas a loss, they will be tied with the Saints for the division lead.

Bengals name their score here. They are going to do to the Jets what they did to Detroit. This Jets team is really, really bad. Cincy has many better players on offense, defense and special teams. They have finally figured out how to win on the road and you can see Burrow's confidence grows every week. So many offensive weapons it is scary. This team is special and I don't see them taking anything for granted, they are hungry for more. Bengals by 20+

3-4 Pittsburgh +3 1/2 BetMGM I don't get this line. I see the Steelers, coming off a bye week, beating their divisional rivals, coming off a Thursday nighter. Currently, the Browns offense has Mayfield, Chubb, Hunt, Conklin, Hubbard and Janovich listed as either being on IR or inactive for Week 8. That's some serious injury issues. And Pittsburgh's D is healthy and hungry. Think the continued development of Najee Harris and an improving o-line will give Big Ben enough time to find his targets including his rookie TE who is quickly becoming a fan favourite in the Steel City.

I believe Detroit is the worst team in the league and their health is deteriorating. They brought out their bag of tricks against the Rams and still fell short. They put up a fight against the Eagles, but come up empty again.

My call was that they wouldn't hit 21 points from their offence
and I wasn't far off on the majority of their games this season.
Almost all but 1 game.

This is my last hurrah as I hope I miss the cut like a golfer
having a bad Thursday & Friday.
