  • NFL P.O.W. Week #3 (Sept 22-26) Post Plays Here

This is the thread for the 2022 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year: 1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums 2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded

    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded

    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week:

    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above buying 1/2 point)

    7. Only the books listed on this page (except for the Opening Line and Consensus) may be used in this contest.

    8. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)

    9. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.

    10. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    11. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)

    12. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO

    13. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO) can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention

    14. Week 18 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.

    15. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 18).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

Hi G, I am 2-0, as I had Tampa/N.O. under last week, and even had a bonus play on under 49'ers, predicting there would 31 points scored in the game. I missed by three, there was 34!

1-1 Buff o 50 1/2 Both teams have shown some firepower in this early season. I think Allen and Tua will sling it all over the yard in a shootout with both teams potentially in the 30's

      CIRCA Under 39.5 Hou/Chi

0-2 on sides this year, so lets go for totals.....Houston has only given up 36 points this year, 30 of which were in the 2nd half. Unfortuantely, their offense still sucks, so the D will need to keep them in the games. Lucky for them, they go to Chicago this week and play a bears team that has only scored 29 points. I see this becoming a battle of who can score last to settle a FG competition. Houston gets the win 16-12 and stays under the number.

        Baltimore -3 ..... everywhere

I won with 2 dogs that won their respective games straight up. I am laying the small spot with Baltimore which is coming off a loss after leading by 21 points. The team has to be irate and will absolutely come to play well this week. The New England offense is very pedestrian and I see a blowout this week. The other choice this week would be Detroit getting 7 points at Minnesota.
Maybe, I will place a parlay on these two teams this week.

          POW YTD (0-2)

          SF 49ers +1.5 @ Broncos 17:05 PDT Southpoint

Watching russellmania and his "let's ride" broncos the past 2 weeks, my eyes tell me they have no chance to beat a super bowl contender that is san francisco. Having Jimmy G back at the helm removes the uncertainty that plagued SF against the bears in week 1. Kyle Shanahan completely outclasses Coach Hackett in running a game, and won't waste timeouts due to so much indecision on whether or not to kick a field goal. Seattle unloaded russellmania at the perfect time, and if Jerry Jeudy is unavailable than this might get ugly. I don't see how denver's defense slows down the 49er running attack, and hopefully George Kittle returns to add 1 more weapon to their arsenal. I see a blowout, with the natives getting more restless throughout the game. 31-10 49ers.

I was lucky DEN didn't knock me out of of some Survivor contest entries. Russy can't run anymore it seems...That's what made him the man for 10-years. Maybe he can get an E-bike to RIDE on!

Russ has lousy receivers. Sutton and Jeudy not creating any space. They can't get open.

          2022 NFL P.O.W. (1-1-0 YTD)

          Kansas City Chiefs -6.5 (Circa)

The look ahead line on this was only 3, and now still able to lay less than a TD, with a team off extra rest, against a home dog, that is play like dogs?? Thank you!! No worries about bad weather inside the Dome in Indy, so Mahomes will have perfect conditions to continue his near perfect start on the season. I really missed on my Colts projection this season, along with thinking Matty Ice would have a re-birth to his HOF career. Not sure what the issue is, but it's looking like Reich could end up being the first HC to get the ax. Hard to believe the Colts have now lost 8 straight years to the Jags in Jacksonville...that is almost unheard of.

I know I'm probably jinxing myself by going against my all time fav QB, but he is still doing the things in Indy that caused me to drink heavily during the past few falls. I really hope Matt is able to get his swagger back, just not this week, lol.

          Kansas City Chiefs 31
          Indianapolis Colts 14

Best of luck to all this week!

THE CHEFS FROM KC -6.5 (CIRCA)

I logged on planning to play PHILLY, but my bird-brained friend King Cotton picked another game I like a lot, so WTF, flip onto one of the top teams in the league vs a team that must have players looking at each other and the coaches wondering how the hell they got to 0-2. It is their season, but that doesn't mean much if you can barely move the ball. KC's D has gotten better, and that was a great win vs LAC, even though Herbert could hardly stand up late in the game. KC on a fast indoor track gives Mahomes all sorts of ways to outpace the Dolts. He throws to all his guys and even the kicker I think...How do you defend them all when you can't really double any of them. This might be close early, but KC will hit the gas and put these horseys in their stall. Coming off the mini-bye only helps. They want home field in the playoffs if possible, so every win counts when BUFF is off like a rocket and other good AFC teams on their heels. I don't think these guys get over-confident, they just over on teams fast and furious.

I had them Week 1, and hope they reward me again.

Cotton...You've only been drinking heavily during the past 'few' years with Matty at QB??? LOL!

Well, he was with the team for 14 seasons....and then there was the Joey Harrington season..and the Mike Vick dog fighting years....and Chris Chandler for about 5 years.....and then the great combination of Jeff George and Bobby Hebert for like 5 seasons and then the first QB that caused me to start drinking as a young high schooler, Chris as you can tell, the ATL QBs have very well contributed to the demise of my liver.

I am debating between this and Rams 1h. I agree to all you said here. Major step down in class for the Ravens and everything Miami did - Pats can't.

              Cowboys/Giants over 39 Caesars
Rush feeling more comfortable in the pocket and after facing two good defenses in their first two games, the Cowboys offense should put up at least 28 here. Just hoping the Giants can hold their end of the stick here.

Detroit + 6 1/2 [Mirage] Now this might be an overreaction after watching my Vikings stink up the joint last night. I think Detroit's O Line will mean big holes for the run game and less plays overall. Detroit's D isn't great, so the Vikings will get theirs as well. I think it's going to definitely be a one score game, and hopefully it falls under that 6 1/2 number.

                  Steelers +4.5 everywhere

A little unorthodox pick but I like the Steelers in this spot. I see a low scoring game and the Steelers to keep this within the spread. Canada took some heat this week not only from the media but also the players with his dink and dunk short pass play calling. Look for the Steelers to open up some long balls. I'd like to think the Steelers come away as a winner but I not sold on that but I will take 4.5 points in prime time with Tomlin.

San Francisco at Denver under 45.5(South Point)

San Francisco and Denver have struggled to put points on the board and both have above-average defenses. The UNDER has cashed in 10 of Denver's last 13 overall and in five of the Broncos last seven at home. San Francisco has had the UNDER cash in each of its last five. San Francisco is scoring an average of only 18.5 points per game but allows an average of only 13.0 points per game, while Denver is scoring an average of only 16.0 points per game and allowing an average of only 13.0 points per game.

Well, after 2 weeks, and I have only had to be corrected 1 time...I consider that a major victory, lol....Mr. Volo, I saw my mistake in missing your week 2 selection, it has been corrected on the master standings, and will show as much in Week 3 post.

If anyone else sees something that I may of missed, so far or in the future, PLEASE, reach out and let me know. I'm doing all of this this season from my phone, as my laptop is on its last leg. I have been checking and double checking all my posts each week, but I guess I missed one so far.

Again, my deepest apologies to Mr.Volo for the miss. The overall standings, as well as his personal record will be reflected in the Week 3 standings.

Best of luck this week and going forward to all.
