  • NFL Survivor Pool Conversation - WEEK 2

    25% OFF ON SURVIVOR PICKS...

Week 1 in the books and there was no huge upset, but there were enough to take 20-25% of pool entries out. MINN & my Seachickens were the main culprits. Division dogs won 4-games. 10-Road teams won with the BUFF/NYJ game playing as I write this toxic waste. I went to the Seachicken game so couldn't focus on the games in detail but many surprises.

The Good...DET, SF, DAL, GB, DAL,CLEVE, BALT all showed they were dominant. Who knows about the GB win over CHI, but Love looked good. DET maybe with an asterisk, but even without Kelce, that's a good win on the road. BALT only up a point at the half but answered the bell as Lamar knocks rust off.

The Bad...CINN, SEA, PITT, NYG, MINN all expected to look much better on paper. Joey B doesn't play defense but CLEVE did. Close game in MINN, but you gotta win those close ones like they did last year. Jesus Giants, what the hell was that? Danny gets paid and he went on vacation...

The 'rules' didn't hold up well with all the road team winners but the division team thing was real. I still like to be on a home team when possible.

My ALL-IN WASH pick in ALL my pools gave me some reason to unscrew some caps with pills and liquids in them but the defense that I thought would shut ARI down came through. I was ready to write my own obituary and quit this mundane thread and vow to never get in a Survivor contest the rest of my life!!! That would have lasted until Adam's 2nd chance pool! ;-) I would have blamed Compass Rose for saying that going ALL IN is the best way to go with multiple picks! LOL!

Now, it's OVER REACTION TIME where some winning teams won't look as good week 2 and some of teams that looked like something I cooked bouncing back and surprising some people. They all get paid, and the losing teams will want to get the nasty taste out of their mouths.

Wrote this during the MNF game and don't have a good idea of injuries that might affect Week 2 games...

    ON THE RADAR...

LVS@BUFF...Gonna be the #1 pick most likely. A good reason to stay off it. I didn't get to see much but highlights but Jimmy G didn't get injured so that's a plus! BUFF loses a day of prep but close to home from the MNF game.

SF@LAR...Not saying take SF in a division game, but LAR will be playing a big boy defense, not the FBS Division 12 D they faced vs the Seachickens. I'm tying SF into a lot of teasers as I think they win this one without raising my BP much. If you don't like much else on the board, I wouldn't blame you to be on SF. They'd be a 14-point fave in SF. 'Purdy' good team it looks like to begin the season.

MINN@PHIL...MINN loses a close one and PHIL gets it done on the road in Billyville. I'd lean PHIL at home but will poke around to see what else is out there.

SEA@DET...Won't blame anyone for being on the kitties off the mini-bye. SEA has probably lost both their O-line tackles for the game and Tyler Lockett might have a concussion. SEA probably figures a few things out and DET scored 2-offensive TD's on KC, so how good is their offense. After watching Seattle's D, Volo could do a few breaking routes and go for 87-yards.

WASH@DEN...I like this one some as WASH beat ARI, big deal. DEN loses by a point with Wilson looking more like his old self and Coach Sean won't do an onsides kick to start the game. I like the attitude, but save that one for another day. I'll dig into this one more.

NYJ@DAL...See if Rodgers is going to play first. DAL is good and on a mission to meet SF in the NFC Championship. Might not matter if Rodgers plays.

NYG@ARI...ARI looked like crap...NYG looked like crap. I feel NYG actually has some talent and can answer the bell in the desert with Dobbs not showing much in the WASH game. I really might be on Compasses GMEN. Will ponder...Yeah, it's a road game, but it won't be raining!

NO@CAR...I need to watch the NO game but they are a team to consider vs a CAR team that didn't look like much vs the Dirty Birds.

CHI@TB...I need to watch both games to see how the teams looked, but TB with Mayfield and what seems to be a defense that can slow down a good MINN team has my attention.

Which teams will bounce back is the question you need to answer...I need to answer the question of how much I can sell the rest of my season tickets for to Seachicken games!

Not sure I can bring myself to go all-in on a team this week, but might double-up on two of my three picks I have left in a few pools.

    EARLY LEANS...

NYG...Seriously. I'll consult with Compass unless he's on his 4th Scotch!
TB...Gotta watch the condensed version of the games that TB/CHI played and get a feel for how they looked.
DAL...Maybe...Only would think about it if Rodgers is not going to play and they announce it early in the week.
NO...It's a roadie...Need to watch the NO game. I liked them before the season started but need to get a feel for their game.
DEN...I know, how many teams am I not leaning on! I need to watch the DEN game but WASH isn't a great team.

PUT IN PICKS IN YOUR POOLS AS PLACEHOLDERS!

If you hear significant injury news or news about players that aren't stars but might have a big impact on a team, throw it out on the thread.

Post teams you like and why and even teams you don't like and why! We need to help each other get to Week 3!!!!

    GOOD LUCK MATES!!

Week #2 Right now looking at Dallas,Denver and Detroit for my 2 picks. In my 10$ and 20$ pools where there are less then 100 players may take Eagles as these pools never go whole seasons.Too bad about Rodgers as Jets would be a top 5 team with him and as I write this cross Dallas off my list this week.More later.

I was lookin at denver as well .but I can’t gauge how bad Wilson is for them or if wash d is as good .

Detroit was my first initial thought ,was it last year these two had that shootout in detroit?..I’m scared of maybe a bounce from kc or maybe Seattle was just a little ahead of their skis last year and they really stink lol

Dalllas I think will be the top pick by alot so agreed that’s a cross off.

I was lookin at Indy over Houston bc I was impressed with Richardson at qb and stroud showed me nothing but why would I risk a division team in the road when I could eventually use them when they play at home.

I think Vegas will give buff a game along with vikes with philly which I presume will be the next two higher picks

So as of right now I’m leaning towards the pack at Atlanta but Waitin on to see about Arron Jones hammy or

The bucs at home against da bears ..90 degree weather plays a factor into this along with the bears sucking but the bucs aren’t world beaters but do they have to be to beat the bears?

Agree with a chunk of your thoughts beginning with 90-degree heat in TB. It's a real thing that can suck the life out of a visiting team in the 2nd half. I need to watch both games to get a feel. I heard MINN turned the ball over to give TB some good opportunities. Fields didn't look too good from highlights I saw but want to see the game.

Agree LVS can give BUFF a game but expect BUFF to fix some stuff, mainly Josh not throwing bombs into double coverage!

Need to check out DEN game and see how they looked. They have a good D.

    SURVIVORGRID.COM....

Hard to argue too much with the top 10 but we all know a few of them will lose...Who would have thought NYG would be the 2nd most popular pick after getting their asses kicked royally. Tells you how much people think of ARI. INDY even getting some love towards the bottom of the 1% or better vote getters.

Currently my leans are Philly and Detroit. Both are at home with good matchups.
Philly's game last week with Patriots was a wake up call to them to take nothing for granted. Going against the terrible Vikings, I think this is the safest pick on the board.
Detroit has a favorable matchup at home vs. Seattle. With Seattle's injuries, I think this is a great spot to take a team you may not be so keen to take later in the season. They also have an extra 3 days to prepare because of playing TNF last week. This is the top value pick, imo.

Personally, I'd like to save Philly, Buffalo, 49ers for a later week.

Philly would be coming into a super short week after the afternoon game Sunday ,not saying their chance of winning isn’t high but just a thought and lions petty much have a week and half off since the Thur opener..probably on that merit I’d go with lions too ,to save philly for later

im still stuck on tampa lol
i really like cle at pitt but again a road division pick isn’t what the dr ordered.Chubb should run wild between the tackles with heyward out ..but as always the browns are talented at beating themselves like a few years ago against pitt they didn’t even try to run the bal

Minnesota is on a short week too and traveling which for Thursday night games is not the best recipe for a win but I did like the way they looked against Tampa Bay on offense except for the turnovers which can seal themselves up quickly. Staying away.

I still have Tampa Bay on the radar with the heat being one of the factors Why I might take them. I still need to look at Denver and the Giants more we'll make a decision Wednesday night at some point.

I'm a big fan of staying away from division games if you can but if you got a feeling, sometimes you got to go with your gut. Hard to see a Tomlin coach team shit the bed two weeks in a row.

I’m way off the deep end on this one ..Houston over colts ?..this could be one of the very few games Texans win this year and it’s home opener ,their d played ok last week .offense was not good but now they’re home with rookie qb while Indy travels on road for first time with rookie qb..Richardson looked good last week but that was at home and very possible he won’t this week ..I think colts will be decent once he gets more games under belt and Taylor comes back .so this could be now or never for Houston 🤦🏼‍♂️

Houston and Indy would be a game you would probably only pick about week 17 or 18 when you've run out of other good teams to take! If you've got a good feeling for it, go for it! Finding a winner in a game like that is like stealing a pick from everybody else is. Those are the kinds of moves that can win these things! Good luck!

If you come up with a new segment weekly for dumbest pic of the week lol I’d be honored to be the first inductee lol

I agree with everything said about minn:tb..Minnie moved the ball easily but turnovers killed them. Yes turnovers part of the game but does it show how good tampa is?

Absolutely no running game .vet wrs and baker at the helm. Mediocre at best . Da bears I just don’t have nothing good to say about at this point but for some reason this guy is lookin like a red flag .

Philly, buff and Dallas all be up on the top of the list and I think one of them will get best .

I like cle and saints as well but division road games make no sense to pick ( even though I think clev is the best bet on the board for the week)

So I’m kinda stuck with mush in my head..I do like gb but again it’s on the road and atl to me didn’t impress me last week,if sanders doesn’t fumble in the third quarter on that drive ,I think Carolina beats them

      • #7
Well, down two entries in Adam pool thanks to my great buddy's advice that the Seahawks were a mortal lock---I think he told his other ( imaginary) friend that the Rams were, this way he was hitting 100pct in picks---

So this week I am looking at NOT Philly, as I see they have some injuries and that last weeks boxscore was misleading on the Vikes- matter of fact Like the Vikes plus points ---
Gonna try and hold on to some of the better teams this week as I have this recurring fantasy I make it past week 2
The Gmen will have a tough time in the desert- But I think they will prevail(even though this is the exact type of game they lose historically)
Also their future value is about as good as Rick's chance with LIZZY(RE: NONEXISENT) so I think using them as a pick may work
I also like Det as my other pick- can't see Seattle winning this one-

I guess Compass didn't notice that I DID NOT take Seattle in any of my Survivor pools! Hellooooooo, division game! I am surprised that they did get beat the way they did though. Not sure how Seattle will do in Detroit but the line did come down a little bit but that doesn't mean Detroit won't kick their ass. Seattle has some injuries on the offensive line and I'm not up to date on Tyler Lockett's status at wide receiver.

I watched the Vikings and Tampa Bay game and Minnesota did pretty well on offenses
As Cousins looked good but the turnovers doomed them. Philly has a hurt running back and DB from what I know.

I have all the faith in the world Compass that you will be picking again in week three! You go boy!

        SURVIVORGRID.COM UPDATE....

Just wanted to post this as DAL made a move up the board off the Rodgers news. BUFF still at the top, but I watched the condensed version of the DEN/LVR game and I think Jimmy G and the gang will give the bills a game. Not touching that one or DAL.

Dak was terrible the first half. If he doesn't get spotted at 15-0 lead by his defense, what does he do? Same as usual is my guess.

I'm probably going to be on NYG and DEN for sure still wondering if I want to go on Tampa Bay or San Francisco even though that is a division road game I think they're going to kick LA's ass.

Still pondering. Not taking Buffalo and not taking Dallas. I don't feel good enough about Denver or the Giants to double up to picks on either one of them.

I watched the Denver / raider game and Russell looked great in the first half, like is old self. Second half, not so much but he was getting a lot of pressure. Washington has a good D and that is my one worry that they might rush him a lot but they were just doing mostly short pass game stuff that gets ball out quick so that can help mitigate the rush I'm hoping...

I'm in a pool with a group of friends, we have 1 entry left in Adam's and decided to go with Buffalo. I don't like the pick as I'd like to save them, but it was hard for everyone to agree on a team that's not a massive favorite.

For all of my entries I will be FULL PORTING DETROIT!

I understand the Detroit pick. Seahawks are down their two offensive tackles and Hutchinson might have 18 sacks!

If I pick them to win, they lose and vice versa.

            Adam 100

            NYG -- DEN -- TB

            Adam 300

            NYG

Daboll coached teams are 6-0 coming off a loss. I have forgotten the DAL game and just believe they will right the ship as they aren't going against one of the best defenses in the NFL this week like they were last week.

Russell looked great in the first half last week and mainly short/medium passes, which will help vs a good WASH line. QB1 Howell for WASH is still learning.

TB...Can't give you a lot of great reasons but they have a good run D and CHI likes to run. Keeping Fields in check on the ground is the question mark but I think the TB D can keep them in the game and Mayfield finds a way to sneak a close win. The heat will be a factor IMHO and CHI wilts a little come the 4th quarter.

Still have Circa and Million Dollar pool picks that might waver off these with some more home work.

            Good luck boys!!!!!!
