For a fuller explanation of what's going on here, check out our "Tuley's non-football takes" thread from Saturday, Aug. 26, but the short story is I'm still doing weekly CFB & NFL picks for VSiN.com, but I'm not doing my daily "ATS Report" from the previous night's games and I'm not doing MLB or horse racing plays. So, those have been moved back here to the ViewFromVegas.com Forums. The hope is that we’ll also bring more of my followers from Twitter @ViewFromVegas into becoming full-fledged VFV Nation members and open up more of a daily discussion of the games with other VFV handicappers as well.
Saturday was a great day of sports betting in the Tuley’s Takes home office with a full college football schedule as well as 16 MLB games.
As fun as it was, it wasn’t profitable for yours truly as I split my CFB Best Bets on Saturday to go 1-2 on the weekend with my column at VSiN.com. Hopefully I bounce back with my NFL column that was posted on Wednesdays (just like during the “Point Spread Weekly” days for those who were longtime VSiN subscribers) with my Week 2 column at https://www.vsin.com/nfl/tuleys-takes-nfl-week-2/
As for my “non-football takes” here, I lost my lone MLB play Saturday with the Guardians First 5 -110 vs. the Rangers (I should passed when I saw them getting bet to favoritism!) as the game was scoreless until the top of the 5th when the Rangers scored to lead 1-0 and deal us a loss. The Guardians ended up winning 2-1 for those betting our plays that way.
But our official plays are on F5, so we dropped to 13-9-5 (a still impressive 59.1% when you consider these were all plus-money dogs or PK -110 at worst) for a net profit of +6.55 units since moving our "non-football" picks back to the VFV Forums two weeks ago Saturday.
As for Sunday, I’ll pass on the Orioles as a “mini-swagger” play (just snapped 4-game losing streak on Saturday) as they’re -120 vs. the Rays, but I will take another “mini-swagger” team with the White Sox after they snapped their 4-game skid. I’m not thrilled with fading Minnesota’s Sonny Gray (7-7, 2.96 ERA), but we’re comfortable enough with Dylan Cease (7-7, 4.87 ERA) in this spot, especially at a juicy price overnight.
White Sox First 5 Innings +130 vs. Twins
