For a fuller explanation of what's going on here, check out our "Tuley's non-football takes" thread from Saturday, Aug. 26, but the short story is I'm still doing weekly CFB & NFL picks for VSiN.com, but I'm not doing my daily "ATS Report" from the previous night's games and I'm not doing MLB or horse racing plays. So, those have been moved back here to the ViewFromVegas.com Forums. The hope is that we’ll also bring more of my followers from Twitter @ViewFromVegas into becoming full-fledged VFV Nation members and open up more of a daily discussion of the games with other VFV handicappers as well.
Sunday was another very exciting sports betting day – even more so with all the Overs in the NFL as there was shootout after shootout with several “fantastic finishes” for those who remember those commercials.
Anyway, it’s a good thing that my football bets have been doing well (my NFL Week 2 column for VSiN is at https://www.vsin.com/nfl/tuleys-takes-nfl-week-2/ for those looking for my “takes” on the Monday Night Football doubleheader) because I’m slowly bleeding away my profits here with my MLB plays.
I lost another First 5 bet in the 5th inning as we had the White Sox First 5 +130 vs. the Twins on Sunday and it was scoreless until the Twins scored 3 in the top of the 5th to deal us the loss when we were at least hoping for a push entering the inning.
That dropped our record here to 13-10-5 (a still impressive 56.5% when you consider these were all plus-money dogs or PK -110 at worst, though were more proud of it when we were over 60% LMEAO) for a net profit of +5.55 units since moving our "non-football" picks back to the VFV Forums two weeks ago Saturday.
As for Monday, I’m expecting I’ll have a “mini-anti-swagger” play against the Rockies, though no line was available as of this writing on Sunday night (and might be passing as the Padres will probably be home favorites). But I am play the Nationals as a “mini-swagger” play as they just snapped a 5-game losing streak with their 2-1 win at the Brewers on Sunday and are not even money (+100) in the First 5 at home vs. the same White Sox team that let us down on Sunday, so we’re not worried about them racking up run on Washington’s Joan Adon (2-2, 5.92 ERA) and not afraid of fading Mike Clevinger (7-8, 3.61 ERA).
