  • Any VFV Nation members (besides RoughRider39, DMill, FrankB) in DraftKings tourney?

There's still time to enter today and Saturday morning: https://www.vsin.com/bettors-lining-...-championship/

$10,000 to enter....$5,000 live bankroll (which you keep anything you earn/have left), $5,000 to prize pool...$2.5 million guaranteed so need 531 to break even, should fall 100-200 below that so huge overlay.

    I'll be arriving tomorrow.

Currently in north NJ. Most of my bankroll in play.

I was riding high at 8 PM Pacific

then Hornets second half, Bulls second half, and CGY/FLA u6 +120 (in regulation) all somehow lost

the hockey was the most brutal of them all with two goals in final 87 seconds, including an empty netter to make it a 4-3 final

          Sounds about right...maybe a little higher...I'll set over/under at 264.5.

Avello told me 242 this morning...just checked DK site and their counter has 246 as of 12:30 a.m., so really just a trickle during course of day. Maybe another dozen or so coming in on Saturday morning to take a shot.

          GL, yisman.

sounds like some of the big names went all in early so they could then buy their guest in if they lost

really sucks that they allowed registration 28 hours after it started

a proper contest IMO means everyone who is playing signs up before and the people playing know what they're competing against

this way these guys keep buying in other people, like rebuys in poker.

the contest essentially ran from 12 PM Friday-4:15 PM Sunday

              So 52 hours.

              We're now 24 hours in.

A lot of people tweeting about the situation Sunday at the betting championship are unaware of the facts. Fact: Once we had reason to suspect the game would run long, we could no longer cash out, as the Sportsbook was no longer trading the game.

Background: the DK sportsbook has a 'cash out' feature where it assesses the current value of your bet/position and allows you to cash out (obviously for less than the full win). So a bunch of people on Twitter blamed the bettors, saying they should have cashed out. The problem is that the DK sportsbook no longer 'trades' or offers the game for betting in the final 5 or so minutes of a blowout. If there's no trading, there's no cashout. I sat next to someone frantically trying to cash out his bets at 4:35 PM only to discover they would not allow him to do so, even though they were all sure winners (outcome already decided).

The problem is that only the people who were actually playing Sunday know the story. People not in the event obviously don't fully understand and the same goes for people who were in the event but busted out earlier.

In case you haven't heard yet, TARB (and yisman posted the leaderboard above), here's my story for VSiN on the controversial finish (and the top finishers): https://www.vsin.com/draftkings-25-m...rufus-peabody/

Thanks for that input, yisman. I hadn't heard that aspect discussed. Anyone else there who can provide insight on anything else from the SBNC?

Happy to answer any questions. I was basically sitting on media row while playing.

when the bets were graded late I got up from my seat (I was at a table with Cal Spears, and the table to our left was the people covering the event for SharpSide) and I was just beside myself. I went to the help desk but there was a guy with a cross around his neck already there. I started talking and he's like "I got this, bro" and he just was screaming the DK higher ups. Aguiar, a guy with a British accent (sportsbook trader) and an official all decked out. He was saying it's a million dollar contest and my opponent got bets in and I couldn't.

As an aside, Phil Hellmuth came over to my table a few times, as did Jon Aguiar. I feel like I was in the middle of the action.

I'm not sure what to say.

I disagreed with them grading certain props/totals early. Industry standard is to wait for the end of the game, when the game is official.

Books do not grade player props early even if they've easily won.

It introduced subjectivity into it because some props were graded early, but not all of them.

Johnny Avello was there. He should know better. I don't know who was doing prop grading early but that's what introduced a discrepancy into the contest.
