  • NFL P.O.W. Week #3 (Sept 19-23) Post Selections Here

This is the thread for the 2019 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year (the same as in the past):

    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums
    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded
    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded
    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week:
    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above buying 1/2 point)
    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed
    8. The following Books will NOT be allowed: VI Consensus, BetOnline, PepperMill, Atlantis Reno
    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)
    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.
    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)
    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO
    14. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO) can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention
    15. For the first time, this year, Week 17 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.
    16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 17)...important note: your points will be the number of Units you start with in the playoff portion of the contest that runs through the Super Bowl and will be run by DaveTuley with locked-in spreads and totals, though Tuley often will give extra options if the market has variances such as Patriots -6.5 but also Steelers +7 being available); still debating maximum units allowed for playoff round (currently 5-unit max bet each playoff weekend).
    17. ViewFromVegas shirt to top point-earner in regular season; $100 gift card & VFV shirt to overall playoff champion (we've had VFV Forum members offer up additional prizes in the past including cash and steak knives, so please contact DaveTuley if you have anything to add).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-1-0) **Will update after CLEVE game that I am on

      Arizona Birdbrains +3 (Westgate)

Kyler Murray isn't ripping it up for ARI, but they are staying in games, and will get a little better each week. They hung with BALT back east in an early bodyclock game where they had numerous chances to tie it up, but didn't. That is a problem, but they'll keep tinkering on the offense to get Kyler in better position to make plays...The O-line isn't good, but they've got another week to work on stuff. ARI is 13th ranked in total offense being 8th in passing because they are always behind, and 28th in rushing, because they have to abandon the run in 2nd halves. The defensive ranks are even with the Titanic. They can only get better! LOL!

CAR and Cammy are just a mess with CAM not being healthy, and costing his team chances to keep drives alive. He isn't running as of now, and his accuracy is average at best. They'll be hungry for a win, as starting 0-3 starts keep you out of the playoffs most years. They come off the mini-bye, but until I see CAM get his act together, I'll bet on a close game.

        POW 0-2
        Chiefs - 6 1/2 Willie Hill
It's looking like the Chiefs are not going down for a while, so a touchdown here shouldn't hinder a potent offense going against a defense that almost lost to the lowly Cards last week.

          2019 NFL P.O.W. 2-0-0
          Dallas -20½ -10 Circa Sports
that 1/2 point makes big difference so take it while I can get it.
The Dolphins point differential for the season is -92
Late garbage-time stats let them barely surpass franchise lows in yards (88) and first downs (six).
Their def played better but I think Dallas is good enough for (3) td's and a cover
          plus they're at home

            2019 NFL POW 1-1 [1 pt.]

            Bears -4.5 [William Hill]

I'll play the "value" angle again this week as I did in wk.2. The Bears are a "public" team so I see this one rising by next Monday. Bears got as lucky as you can get to win a game in wk. 2 at Denver, but they did show some toughness in the road win at a very tough place to play. Some of their offensive woes should be cured by playing a team that has given up 63 points in two games. Washington won't be able to run the ball which will spell trouble for QB Keenum. Bears will score enough points to cover this relatively short # as I see a double digit victory for the team with the MUCH better Defense.

            GL to all

                POW 2-0-0
                Pitt +7 William Hill
Early line was pk and Ben goes down and SF plays good on road to go 2-0.Pitt coach is rumored to be on the way out.
No way SF worth 7 point swing without Ben and they almost beat Seattle after Ben goes down.Line coming down and feel
sharps will come in today.I think this is right side.

                  POW 1-1
                  Carolina -1 Treasure Island
Hard to get behind SCAM Newton in just about any scenario, but if the cats have any chance to make the playoffs, they need to show up this week. Even though the Cards have had two respectable outings, I don’t see them winning a game until October.

                    NFL P.O.W. (2-0)

                    Arizona +2.5 (Circa Sports)

Arizona QB Murray is only the second NFL QB to throw for more than 300 yds. in the first 2 games of his rookie season. Panthers are just 2-8 vs. the spread last 10 as a visitor. Cam Newton doesn't appear to be so healthy. This is a Gold Sheet key release. Would not be surprised if Arizona wins straight up 27-21.

                      NFL POW (2-0)
                      Green Bay PACKERS -7.5 MGM
Its killing me playing all chalk as my POW to start the 2019 season, but this is what is making the most sense to me. Denver off to an 0-2 start for the first time since 99 and the natives are restless and turning their backs on the team. Broncos fans aren't used to this and the venom in the media is probably not motivating the players to drop into Lambeau and shock the world with a scrappy performance. The truth is the secondary is in ZERO shape to stop AR12. The broncos have the 28th best scoring offense and while they look decent in between the 20s, Im not buying they can put up more than 14 against a stout Packers D. With the Packer nation foaming for a 3-0 start and Brees hurt. The Pack is rising up to contend with LA and big d for NFC sepremacy. I see a good ol Wisconsin behind the ice fishing shack beatdown. 35-12. Pack moves to 3-0 and Denver is 0-3 SU and ATS.

                        NFL POW (1-1-0)

                        Dallas -21 (MGM MIRAGE)

I usually don't play this kind of spread, but 2 teams going in opposite directions. Thought maybe Miami would have a "Come to Jesus Meeting" after week 1.
Looked worse in week 2. Dallas hasn't really played anyone, but it looks like they are a team to be reckoned with. Balanced offense, fast defense, and a QB
that is playing like he can take them deep into the playoffs. No "Red Sea" miracle today, Cowboys win big at home. Looks like the only thing Miami will win
                        is next years draft.

                          NFL POW (2-0)

                          Cincy/Buff Over 43.5 (MGM)

Sticking with totals for another week - it’s working so far for me..... Cincy offense has been live and their defense took a step back last week against SF so expecting them to give up a bunch again when they take on the Kings of NY in Buffalo. Josh Allen will put points on this defense and Dalton puts just enough on the board to get over the total.

                            SF - 6 1/2 William Hill
Big Ben down and I'm not sure if they would have won this game even with him in there. SF has looked strong in both games this year and could possibly be a playoff team this year.

                              POW 2-0

                              INDY -1 (CG TECHNOLOGY)

Continue to like this Colts team as being undervalued. 2-0 ATS on the road and now return home as a very small Favorite. Feel like the Colts are the better coached overall team. Team is rallying around the "nobody believes in us team" without Luck.
