  • 2019 nfl p.o.w. Week #4 (sept 26-30) post plays here

This is the thread for the 2019 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year (the same as in the past):

    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums
    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded
    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded
    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week:
    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above buying 1/2 point)
    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed
    8. The following Books will NOT be allowed: VI Consensus, BetOnline, PepperMill, Atlantis Reno
    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)
    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.
    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)
    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO
    14. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO) can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention
    15. For the first time, this year, Week 17 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.
    16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 17)...important note: your points will be the number of Units you start with in the playoff portion of the contest that runs through the Super Bowl and will be run by DaveTuley with locked-in spreads and totals, though Tuley often will give extra options if the market has variances such as Patriots -6.5 but also Steelers +7 being available); still debating maximum units allowed for playoff round (currently 5-unit max bet each playoff weekend).
    17. ViewFromVegas shirt to top point-earner in regular season; $100 gift card & VFV shirt to overall playoff champion (we've had VFV Forum members offer up additional prizes in the past including cash and steak knives, so please contact DaveTuley if you have anything to add).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

      NFL P.O.W. (1-1-0) (Pending Week 3 Result)

New England Patriots -6 (CG Tech)

Really surprised at this line. I know BUF is sitting at 3-0, but come on, NE is NE. They should be at least a 10 pt favorite each game, no matter where they are playing. So to get them at less than a TD is a true gift! They will show BUF who is the king of the AFC East...

      New England 31
      Buffalo 10

      Best of luck this week!

gotta get the early line before it moves.
        Indy-6 Circa
This is really a bet against Oakland and their difficult schedule, but most would agree Indy is better any way, but had to post early to catch a -6 as I'm sure it'll be at least 7.5 by KO.
Raiders just lost badly to Minny now go home briefly to go back to Indy next week followed by a trip to London. Great opportunity to use Indy in suicide pools too

            NFL P.O.W. (2-1)

            New England Patriots -7 (Westgate)

I'm going to grab the -7 as I think this line will keep going up. Lots of excitement about the Bills being 3-0, but they beat the Jets, Giants, and Bengals. Hardly the elite teams of the league, and this will be a big step up in class. I think the Pats will be very motivated to make a statement that they are still the top dog in the AFC East, and keep the foot on the gas and win by margin in the this one to assure the Bills are clear about who owns that division.

              Minnesota Vikings +2.5 all books
Im making this play early because I have a notion that da bears will lose tonight SU to the hungry Skins, and this line will swing the other way with the public (and me) fading the monsters of the midway. I also feel the Vikes look like a dangerous squad right now. They could easily be sitting at 3-0 but the comeback fell short vs the Pack last week. The offense looks capable of scoring quickly, coming from behind or marching slowly and methodically down the field with a healthy Dalvin Cook. The Bears offense is stuck in a bog. I’m fading the Bears on this prospect play for value.

              NFL P.O.W. 3-0
              LA Chargers -16½ at Miami

Chargers are 1-2 and need this game. Rivers (imo) seems like someone
who won't be afraid to run up the score or pad his stats. This isn't the Pats or the
Cowboys but it will be hard for Miami to keep playing hard while losing

                NFL P.O.W. (1-2)

                Seattle -4 (MGM)

Playing this due to a system of away teams in division game playing on Sunday and then plays on Thursday and the opponent is not going into a bye. This system is 10-0-1 since 2015 and 1-0 this year with Jacksonville. I'm not usually a system or trend person but apparently the way I pick isn't working so what do I got to lose...

                    NE -7

I could wait and maybe grab 6.5 but it could really jump to 7.5. Billsmafia is getting ridiculous with the talk of superbowl already. They beat the 2 very worst teams of the year so far. NE is going to mop the floor with Bills. The clapping machine preaching process will be processing a big loss here. Bills can not match up with Pats. Pats win by 10. The bills will get a solid dose of reality, that they are mediocre team.

                      NFL P.O.W. (1-2)

                      BALTEEEEEEMORE -6.5 (TI)

I have seen nothing out of CLEVE that tells me they can take their 'act' on the road vs a good team when their play and coaching screwed them up vs LAR. BALT played KC tough, and they'll be tougher at home as they step down in class with the visiting BROWNIES coming to town. BALT has their sites on winning the division, and this is another step against a division rival in getting there. NE and KC are the kings right now, but BALT will improve as the season goes on. Lamar Jackson and his running are something BALT hasn't had in forever, and that will be the difference in this tilt.

                        NFL POW 2-1

                        Pats-7 (everywhere)

Don't let the Bills record fool you. Yes they are 3-0 but they have wins against the Jets (0-3), Giants (1-2) and the Bengals (0-3). If you can get Brady and the Pats for a TD or less you run with it. Pats are on another mission this year. Their defense is playing great football which is a nice relief for the offense. Divisional game with both teams undefeated. Brady will own the Bills and show them who is still the division boss.

                          NFL POW 2-1 [2 pts.]

OVER 46.5 NY Giants/Washington [William Hill]

3 games played by both teams and each team has given up 94 points in the three games. Neither team will run the ball well now with Barkley out, so I see the ball getting passed around the field by both QB's. Keenum had a bad game vs. a very good Bears Defense, but his other two outings were above average statiscally. We all saw what Jones did in his first game and against a poor Redskin team he should continue to give the Giants hope. This game gets to the 50's.

                          GL to all

                            Buffalo +7 Southpoint
Yes, everyone thinks that Buffalo is a paper tiger sitting at 3-0 after having faced a row of pansies. However; when you look at who New England has beat so far, none of those teams have a winning record either. Bills get to play this one in friendly confines and give Brady more than he bargained for. Circle the wagons, it's the Buffalo Bills.
