  • 2019 NFL P.O.W. Week #6 (OCT 10-14) Post Plays Here

This is the thread for the 2019 VFV NFL P.O.W. contest. The following are the rules for this year (the same as in the past):

    1. All contestants must be a member in good standing with VFV Forums
    2. Players make one (1) single play ATS each week during the NFL regular season
    3. A correct play results in one (1) point being awarded. A "push" or tie, results in a half point (1/2) being awarded
    4. An Incorrect play results in zero (0) points being awarded
    5. All lines MUST be taken from the following website each week:
    6. All lines must be -110 or less (must be posted on above buying 1/2 point)
    7. Only Vegas Sports Books listed on the VI website will be allowed
    8. The following Books will NOT be allowed: VI Consensus, BetOnline, PepperMill, Atlantis Reno
    9. The following selections are allowed: Full Game Side, Full Game Total, First Half Side, First Half Total (NO MONEYLINES ALLOWED)
    10. Plays MUST be submitted each week by kickoff of last scheduled game.
    11. Plays must be in the following format (or close to it):

2019 NFL P.O.W. (0-0-0 (post your current record here))

    Atlanta Falcons +3 (Golden Nugget)
(This is where you will post your reasoning for this selection. It doesn't have to be a book or even a full paragraph, but more than just "I think the Falcons are better.")

    12. Myself, Seahawk Rick (the artist formerly known as Cybergolf) or any other I deem so, will have final ruling on if a play is valid (ie: Wrong line, Wrong Book, Not enough reasoning given, etc)
    13. The first couple of weeks I will give the benefit of the doubt to any newcomers on here...veterans, you know the rules, LMEAO
    14. NO EDITING!!! (ironic, as this was edited by DaveTuley LMEAO) can't change your pick after you post it as this supposed to mirror the real world where you lock in your bet at the current number...if you need to clarify something in original post (typed in wrong team or line, or forget to cite sportsbooks, etc.), please quote in new post to bring it to the moderators attention
    15. For the first time, this year, Week 17 will be worth 2 points for a correct selection and 1 point for a push.
    16. To qualify for the playoff round of this competition, players must have a total of 10 points by the end of the regular season (week 17)...important note: your points will be the number of Units you start with in the playoff portion of the contest that runs through the Super Bowl and will be run by DaveTuley with locked-in spreads and totals, though Tuley often will give extra options if the market has variances such as Patriots -6.5 but also Steelers +7 being available); still debating maximum units allowed for playoff round (currently 5-unit max bet each playoff weekend).
    17. ViewFromVegas shirt to top point-earner in regular season; $100 gift card & VFV shirt to overall playoff champion (we've had VFV Forum members offer up additional prizes in the past including cash and steak knives, so please contact DaveTuley if you have anything to add).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck this season!

      2019 NFL P.O.W. (2-2-1 YTD)

      Seattle Seahawks +2.5 (Westgate)

I am totally shocked at this number. I had SEA at -3, so to get them catching 5.5 pts more than my number is amazing. SEA is off extra rest and CLV will be off short rest. Not concerned at all about the "West Coast at 1pm" trend of years past. It seems as that has faded away like the fullback position, lol. If any coach can get his team fired up for this game it will be Coach Pete. Hawks in a romp!

      Seattle Seahawks 31
      Cleveland Browns 17

Best of luck in week 6!

Since your birds are probably planning vacations for their Bye week, you are more than welcome to jump on the SS Seachicken!

SEA pass D still sucks, and that's where any decent QB will make some hay against them. I wish I was as confident as you in the score, as they haven't blown out any team of substance. CLEVE will give them a game. I might go with the over on the game, but will ponder a while longer.

      NFL POW (4-1-0)

      Dallas -8.5 (William Hill)

Cowboys have been exposed a little playing real competition. This week, they have another chance to play another struggling team. Regardless who plays QB for the Jets, it won't make much difference. The Cowboys have been embarrassed on a Sunday Night and National Game of the Week (at home). The Pokes will come out firing on both sides of the ball. You can name the score here.

        NFL POW (3-2-0)

        Sea +2.5 Westgate, William Hill

Seattle has top ten QB (#1 in QB rating), and Seahawks have better turnover margin (also top ten). Mayfield is bottom ten QB in almost every rating system. Cleveland offense has given up six ints, and Mayfield himself is among four QBs with most 4th quarter turnovers (at eight and counting). Seattle wins by at least a touchdown. Say Sea 27-17.

          2019 N F.L. P.O.W. (3-2-0)

          Seahawks +2.5 Westgate

Amazed at this line. Has it not yet been reported - except to Vegas oddsmakers - that Russell Wilson stubbed his big toe? Even so, he would win this matchup between him and Mayfield and Cleveland's defense. Browns 0-2 this year ATS as home team, with average scoring margin a league worst -18.5 points. Browns improve to 5-5 ATS at home when looking back since 2018, and average scoring margin improves to -4.4 points. Sea 34-21, being overly generous to Cleveland.

            NFL POW (3-2-0)

            NO +1 William Hill

Another good line. NO scored 31 points, winning by 7 points, against a TB team similar to Jax: stronger on defense than on offense. Jax lost by 7 to Car, who had only a slightly better FPI rating than themselves. The Saints FPI is five times greater than the FPI of the Jags. Jax defensive DVOA is ranked #21 in the NFL. NO is 7-3-0 ATS on road since 2018 with MOV of +7.1 points, and Jax is 4-4-1 ATS at home since 2018 with a MOV of +1.3 points. The Saints have 6 takeaways and turnover margin of +1, while the Jags only have 2 takeaways and a turnover margin of -4. Predicted score NO 27-24

              P.O.W. (3-2-0 YTD)

              NE -16 Circa Sports

This line should also move higher. Giants with #31 defense versus Patriots #1 defense. Patriots 1-1-0 ATS this year scoring on average 23 points more than their opponents are scoring. Giants also 1-1-0 ATS this year, but their average score is -8.5 points less than their competition. Patriots scoring margin on all games in 2019 is 23.8 points per game, while Giants scoring margin this year is -5.8 points per game. Washington's only very slightly worse defense was outscored by 26 points by Patriots today, on Washington's home field. Similar result, NE 34-10

                NFL P.O.W. (4-1-0)

Detroit plus 6 vs GB (Westgate)

Gb played terrific vs. Dallas last week, Det off Bye—Both these teams are similar to me, but GB is well, GB; Det is like some team in a beer league to folks it seems.

No reason they should be getting 6 in this contest-I’m taking it. They always play each other tough and Gb isn’t great Vs NFC North. After impressive road win for the Packers believe road team prevails.

                  NFL POW 2-3 [2 pts.]

                  Rams -4 [CGT]

Rams will have extra rest and coming off of a two game losing streak should have a bit more motivation and health in this divisional game. Gurley who obviously is not himself these days also will benefit from the extra half bye on Sunday at home. 9'ers will be coming off a Monday night game with alot of emotion being in front of the national tv audience. Goff has found another nice weapon which will make it harder for the road team to defend in TE Everett. Too many intangibles in this one for the Rams not to win and cover the short #. Home team by double figures.

                  GL to all

                    NFL POW 3-2

                    NO - PICK (MGM)

as i predicted last week, Teddy is starting to develop chemistry with the receivers and Cook. I expect a big game out of the TE Cook this game and look to Teddy to use his legs more and create. The Saints D is still operating at a high level and will be able to control JAX run game. NO will win this game it is just a matter of by how much, which doesnt matter this week as we get the pickem. Good luck to you all.

                      POW 1-4
                      Browns -2 Caesars
Purely a contrarian play here as everyone and their dogs will be on the seabirds. Do like the fact that the Browns will be on grass.

                        Jags +1 1/2 Treasure Island
Trying to snag this number early as this game was PK just about everywhere else. Still not convinced that NO is a tier one team and this looks like a classical trap game for the Aints on the road. Jaaaaaaags.

                          NFL POW 2-3

Coming off back to back losses, I think the Rams right the ship in this game. They have an undefeated division opponent coming to town. Nothing more motivating than knocking off an undefeated team in the NFL. The Rams have too much talent and have played less than expected to this point in the season. All things click for the Rams and I think they win this game by a TD or more.
